oneshot Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 Lettuce, Radishes, Peas and Onions are coming up. Planted some more Cabbage. oneshot BilletHead 1
Quillback Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 Just picked up a few tomato plants, after tonight the 10 day forecast is looking pretty good as far as no frost. A little bit of a gamble to put them out now, but the payoff is getting tomatoes by mid-June or maybe earlier. tho1mas and BilletHead 2
jdmidwest Posted April 2, 2021 Posted April 2, 2021 Lettuce, spinach, radishes, and Alaska Peas are up and doing well. Strawberries are blooming. I covered up the beds for the last 2 nights here. Low 30's and frost, but the wind has kept it spotty. If the wind dies, full frost. Tomato plants outside now will just sit and wait for warmer weather to do anything unless you can heat them up like they did in a greenhouse where they came from. tho1mas 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Fish24/7 Posted April 5, 2021 Posted April 5, 2021 Planted 30 tomato seeds indoors 27 sprouted. 23 Belgium pink, 4 cocktail. made a 40x40 plot in the back yard strictly for sweet corn this year. Will be doing a little pepper side project too. Was gifted some lumber and will attempt to make a garden bed of some kind with it. Just waiting for the plants to grow up now. Next update will be outside.
slothman Posted April 5, 2021 Posted April 5, 2021 I finally got out yesterday and broke ground at our new house for the first time. I haven’t lived where I could garden since I moved out of my parents house nearly 20 years ago. I’m pretty excited to get a garden going even though it has been a long time since I’ve done one and my wife never has. I tilled a plot about 15’ x 40’. I’m planning to put in zucchini, yellow squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, jalapeños, bell peppers, corn, and green beans. I’m considering buying some extra topsoil and working it in with what I’ve got tilled already before planting everything. @oneshot where did you get your dirt? Did you find a decent price for it? Dutch Posted April 5, 2021 Posted April 5, 2021 I planted strawberries in a raised bed today. I haven’t done this before but my back won’t let me pick them off the ground. I am also planning to put tomatoes in 5 gallon buckets which I haven’t done before either. Quillback, ness and BilletHead 3
ness Posted April 5, 2021 Author Posted April 5, 2021 I rebuilt raised beds over the weekend. Dayum lumber is expensive! I have a few yards of topsoil/compost/sand mixture coming in a few days to fill them up. Tomatoes are repotted now. Tomatoes, along with peppers and first planting of lettuce and box choy have been hardening off for a few days. Started some more lettuce in cells too. It won't be long! John

oneshot Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 Got Tomato and Pepper Plants over ready to go to the garden but I’m unable to work the ground up and afraid it’s too early. Got House Plants and was told 50/50 mix of Pro Mix and Worm Casings but I'm afraid this is too much Worm Casings. oneshot
