Don't be chasing chickens that big Wrench ,they might turn the tables on you.

You never want to be smaller than a chicken (or turkey);)! It's been said that a chicken will try to eat what ever doesn't eat them .

I've watched chickens walking around in people's yards.  They are great recyclers.  One will take a poop, and the closest one behind her will immediately eat it.  😳

We get a ton of Trumpeter Swans up in Alton. More of a woot kinda honk, but higher pitched than a Canada Goose. Specks (Greater White Fronted Geese) make squealy peep type sounds as do snow geese. Bunch of them around.

This is a great site if you want to browse birds. Photo's and sound files.

I can hear them way up there in the darkness, headed in a North-Northeast direction.

Not quacking, or honking, but more of a Raspy...... "peep-peep......peep-peep...... peep-peep".

Teals?

Woody's?

Coots?

Something else entirely?

What are they?   🤔

Definitely speks or white fronts.   I can get peeping but scratchy sound peeping would be specklebellys.   Geese start to nest in the prairie pot holes as early as february

There were big skeins of Snows overhead yesterday, riding that wind back to the Arctic.  Nature is so awe inspiring.

What's awe inspiring is: Why on earth a goose would prefer to live in the arctic ?

I know, it's just weird.  Want to know something even weirder?  I heard there are animals that prefer to live in the water.  I tried that once and nearly drowned!
