You can't blame THEM for Mercury Marines hugely flawed design. You obviously thought it was fine too.....or you wouldn't have shot across the lake @ 50 mph with it. In all reality, if there were no active codes and the engine seemed to start and run just fine.....then they did their job the way they were trained to do.

Not actually going to fight , although I can dream about it . I never thought anything was fine .I’m actually the only one who thinks something is amiss . Would have never taken it in if I thought it was fine . To have my boat for a month and a half , put it in a pond and start it and tell me it’s fine . Only to make it on a 5 minute ride and she comes apart . Yeah you and everyone else can blame Mercury and I will too . But dang , something is wrong now something was wrong when I dropped it off , hell something was wrong a year ago when they did the same thing. Just sucks that you can take it for service and if it doesn’t throw a code no one even bothers . Rant over good day

Tell me about it ! Everybody demanded an outboard that would run a mile on a mere sniff of fuel, and that would avoid allowing any "harmful emissions" into the atmosphere..... And would do so QUIETLY ! Your wishes were granted....and now you get to live with it. 😂 Not ME though. I'm still happily running motors that were made before all of that ignorance started. 👌😊👍
fishinwrench Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 Funny story that kinda relates.... I grew up in boats and never even knew what a "blown powerhead" meant until one of my uncle's drunken buddies borrowed his boat, and the only thing he knew of that came in 16oz. bottles was Stag beer.....so that's what he added to the fuel. 😅 I rebuilt that old turtle head Johnson at age 14.....and that's where it all started. Well if it wasn't you, and it wasn't me,......Then who was it then? 🤔 They are all consumer driven, right? That's the problem with society today. Nobody can think for themselves, they have to be taught what to think. I never requested electric windows on my trucks either....but now you can't even find a vehicle with window cranks.
fishinwrench Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 BTW: Which do you think has the bigger carbon footprint in it's manufacturing and service lifetime......A 1985 Evinrude 150...... or a 2021 Mercury-Yamaha-Suzuki fuel injected 75hp 4-stroke ? snagged in outlet 3 1
Lvn2Fish Posted May 12, 2021 Author Posted May 12, 2021 After taking my boat to boatwrx in Osage beach the mystery problem has been resolved . It’s was spark plugs ! They were the original plugs in the motor and they were black . Slapped new ones in and they tested it today . Issue resolved . I definitely would have though the first mechanic would have looked at them but I’m convinced they don’t know what the hell they are doing ! I’m back baby !

One or more spark plugs not firing should have set an O2 sensor code. I remain unconvinced. We'll see. 🤔 dtrs5kprs 1
