Devan S. Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 To answer the original questions, I don't think it would be that much better. Today on Table Rock bass limits are a small fraction of the Crappie limit. Lots of Crappie guys at the boat ramp say, " Had to wade through 30 fish to find 15 keepers" Lots of Bass guys at the boat ramp say, "3 fish only 1 keeper"

tjm Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 More restrictions might lead to better fishing for some fish or for some people but it also might lead to more restrictions and that could lead all game fish being reserved for contest fishing, since contests are games and subsistence fishing is not a game. Then all the church fish fries would have to use carp and then carp would become endangered and that would mean more restrictions and..... BilletHead 1

I thought gifted fish only stayed in your daily limit for the day caught, but I just looked and could not find any reg that mentioned it.

I think as soon as you gift them they are out of your possession. If caught that day yes go to your limit but next day you can catch more. The giver does need to label it. I do not believe the gifted need to have a valid license as long as the giver name is on the package. I gift out waterfowl most seasons. The receiver does not have to have a license or waterfowl stamp, again the game or fish does have to be taken by a licensed fisher or hunter. Tagging and labeling sounds hard but so easy. I found the giving wildlife away reg. and it says it stays in the giver's daily limit but goes into the receiver's possession limit. But, it doesn't specify that it applies to fish and for most other things fish are considered separate from wildlife, so it leaves a question in my mind. And it may well be that I just overlooked a fish regulation, dim eyes and fine print etc.
MOPanfisher Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 I never worried about fish I gave away as I was done fishing for the day anyway. Sure is easy to find takers for filleted crappie, and as I am a bit particular who I give them to I almost always fillet them. And they never last more than 24 hours for them unless I give them enough for a couple of meals. I like to see the friends I give fillets to enjoy them. There have ben a few times with a few folks who just say drop them off still kicking, no problem. However eating more carp.isn't a bad campaign plan, been a while since I ate one, maybe I will intentionally catch a few small eaters this year.
MoCarp Posted March 18, 2021 Author Posted March 18, 2021 On aside note the coast guard is going to push the legal lighting issue....apparently moving is a no no with the big floodlights on..must be anchored....moving..albeit slowly is still moving..obstruction of red green bow lights..guess they have to be visible a considerable distance.....and something about over weight boats...was a couple of high profile drownings....some org back east...moms for boat safety or women for...I’ve slept since I read it.... MONKEYS? what monkeys?

If you catch them they count to YOUR possession no matter where they are stored...they are supposed to have who caught them and where/when......it’s often violated regulation....if you have 5 in your family THEY have to catch the fish...kinda like someone buying tags for the 5 year old MONKEYS? what monkeys?
