April 19, Big M area

It was one of the quantity over quality days.  Bunch of bank running spotted bass.  Caught 30, 2 were LM's, one smallie and the rest were spots.  Caught a 16" walleye which keeps my at least one short walleye per trip streak on Table Rock going.  4 minimum sized keepers.

Every fish I caught came on 2.8 and 3.3 Keitechs.  None were very deep, deepest fish may have been at 10 feet.  Some were around docks, some on the main lake, and a few back in the Big M cove.

Had one good one roll on the Surge Shad, he missed it, I saw it, decent fish a no doubt keeper, but no hook up.

Some beds out there, saw a couple of small fish on them.

Better than I did.  I had 13 with 3 keepers in the Cape Fair to Piney area.  Mine all came on dirt or melon candy Zinker Zs  I did catch my first Piney smallie today.

Some day I am going to hire someone to teach me how to catch swim bait fish.

Would be hard pressed to think of a bait I enjoy less. Sticks and deep cranks, maybe.

And I love swimming a grub, which makes it stranger.

Great looking smallmouth!! Definitely a good number day. Did you notice what the water temp was?  Curious to see if this big cold front drops it more than a degree Or two.... pushes the girls back at all....

I looked first thing in the morning and it was 55, but that was over deep water.

My HB units showed 61° to 63° every where I went.  As for pushing the girls back the only girls that I am seeing are spots.

Think of it as a paddle tail grub.

I have. I still hate it.

I blame BPS. When I was about eight years old, one of the first things I bought from the first BPS catalog we had ever seen was a 50ct of BPS Squirmin' Shads. Never got near a fish with one. 😂

Kind of dig bigger swimbaits. The Storm lead inside baits and some of the big hard swimmers and wakers.

We fished out of Baxter, results not to different. Had one LM go 3.5#. Probably had enough keeper spots to make a limit between us. Checked the WFL results, anyone who caught just one fish had a bag weight of right at 2# +- an ounce so we had 11.5# sack😝😝.Orange/green Ned or Kietech for us.Thought about getting out before the snow today but one hour drive each way keept me at home.Anyone get out early?

The answer may not lie at the bottom of a glass, but you should always check
