2018 was the last time I was able to get Pat on a bird. Today we tried on her day off. Went behind the house knowing we had one adult Tom and a Jake.  Pat is not particular and Jake would work. So there is two places they could roost. Did not put them to bad last night so it was a roll of the dice type choice. We chose wrong. Nothing but we could hear to the North a bird on roost gobbling. Curses foiled again! BUT we were early and decided to go North and see if we could get there before fly down. As fast as two 62 year old folks could travel we stumbled along. Picked a spot and put out the scoot and shoot. Guess scoot and shoot is misleading as there is no scooting involved. Pat backed up under a big cedar and me directly behind parked in front of an oak. Catching our wind a called a bit and two birds answered. Then the we heard one bird fly down and then the second into the open which was the Jake. The old bird came into the open. I called a bit again and both birds perked up and seen the decoy. They were 200 yards plus away. Instantly the adult bird attacked the Jake and tried to run him off as the Jake was trying to get to us. Then it was on who made it to us first. One gobble as the adult trotted towards us. Jake made it first but Pat was concentrating on the big bird then Bang your dead. We both needed this and it was even faster than my hunt Monday morning. 18lbs 7oz. 9 1/2 inch beard and spurs touching the one inch mark on the rule. Felt really blessed more than usual. Sat there another 30 minutes with the sunrise to our back. Life is good in BilletHeadVille.

Great hunt and great looking Tom! Now Pat will hand that off to you to clean and cook it up. I see lots of carnitas in the future :have-a-nice-day:!
