We saw a bunch more Dillon road kill than I remember along I70 around Columbia when we drove around back in June. The first one I remember seeing above the Missouri was about 8 to 10 yrs ago. Members LuvToFish Posted July 16, 2021 Author Members Posted July 16, 2021 I was driving by Arma, KS on 69 one day when I spied a dead dillo in the road. That town surely missed out, the high school mascot should have been named, wait for it, the Arma Dillo's. 😆🤣 Johnsfolly, Quillback, Nick Adams and 1 other 2 2

Nick Adams Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 I would say you won't need waders this time of year. I always start in the City park. I've caught fish in the park several times, especially the big hole in front of the bridge. LuvToFish 1

I don't think air temps have a great effect on fish survival and the only time I was there in July the water felt plenty cold. I had assumed it was spring fed and as such would have approximately the same temps year round? The part of the stream I saw was pretty well shaded and had bank under cuts that should keep the water cool.

I live in one of those white counties and have seen five timbers and three cottonmouths over the years. I wonder how they think snakes got across the white counties to get to the isolated or more northern shaded counties. That only shows where an MDC bio or herp actually saw the snake.

I personally have not but I know a few guys who have and the water gets in the 65-70 degree range in the heat of the day, in the sun. tjm 1 “To those devoid of imagination a blank place on the map is a useless waste; to others, the most valuable part.”--Aldo Leopold

I know out west where they rely on snow melt to feed the rivers during warm spells they shout down during high heat hours. Montana for sure. Does anyone know the temps coming out of roaring river or Bennett spring and does that temp shift much? I am betting there is a daily record. I imagine towards the end of the trout area yes it could warm up some. Fish have a way of knowing and try to stay where they are most comfortable. Bass run into the Bennett spring branch to constant warmer water during the winter. I bet the trout move up higher if the flow will let them to be in the sweet spot. Heck I move in and out if I can to feel good. tjm 1 "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!"
