netboy Posted December 20, 2021 Posted December 20, 2021 Looks like you are having a good season. I sure miss duck hunting since moving up here from South Texas, but the flyfishing makes up for it. There was some great duck hunting down there... all public and you just needed a shallow running boat or a kayak. Tons of Redheads and Pintails, and a good number of Wigeon, Gadwalls and Teal, but no mallards. I can only remember shooting 2 mallards in 40 years of hunting down there. Gavin Posted December 20, 2021 Posted December 20, 2021 Glad you are have a good season. The east side has birds, but the ducks are very stale. Still lots of gadwall, pintails, and teal around, mallard numbers low. Ryan Miloshewski 1

Saw a bunch of snow geese headed south throughout the day...i was hoping some fresh mallards would come in...but never did. what mallards are around seem to be pretty educated the teal were acrobatic flyers...Responded to the calling...And fun to shoot at. Was a great day Ryan Miloshewski, Gavin, Johnsfolly and 1 other 4

Ryan Miloshewski Posted December 21, 2021 Author Posted December 21, 2021 @wily Four Rivers Unit 4 and 3 have been really hit or miss for us this year. Buddies have drawn in a couple times and done well, but you 100% needed Invisimans. The cover there is just atrocious. The ducks are educated for sure. I fear this freeze up sent em a little farther south, too. Been a struggle this week. Good deal nailing em! wily 1 “To those devoid of imagination a blank place on the map is a useless waste; to others, the most valuable part.”--Aldo Leopold

It doesn't help all the duck clubs in St. Charles are basically refuges since the guys who go there rarely hunt. Just go to get drunk and get away from their wives hah. “To those devoid of imagination a blank place on the map is a useless waste; to others, the most valuable part.”--Aldo Leopold

I sold some really elaborate duck blind/pits made of steel plate to a private club in St charles. The tops popped open with a spring mechanism. I got to hunt there for free for a season. We had a blast. Decoys put out for us, food, drinks and ladies to clean the birds. The clubhouse had a huge bar and grill with pool tables, darts and shuffleboard. It also had 12 rooms each with private baths. Word from the workers was that a lot of "girlfriends" must really like to hunt ducks because they were there all the time.😁 Ryan Miloshewski, Gavin, Greasy B and 2 others 3 2
wily Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 We were hunting a high spot...and it was covered in trampled down cockleburs. Those left standing were about 18 inches tall. We use the invisilay blinds covered in grass...and then raffia grass bundles scattered around. people in a frames and boat blinds struggled I’m sure...we could see em...and they stuck out...most left by 11. Birds really didn’t start flying til 2 we had fun...and a good memory...that’s all I care about BilletHead, snagged in outlet 3, Johnsfolly and 1 other 4
