EWG Ned jigs

They are touted as being pretty weed less.  I lose a lot of Ned heads and want to change that.  I’m thinking about getting the mold as soon as Victory gets the hooks back in production. 
 

My question is, have any of you used a wide gap Ned head?  If so how weed less is it?

I have never used a wide gap Ned head.

My .2 cents on weedguards:

Most of them are useless and too wimpy. In other words they aren’t stiff enough to actually protect you against a snag. Have you ever tried to pull out a decent bass out of a live well that has his mouth clamped shut? You soon realize the power of a bass’s mouth and it makes you re-evaluate the wimp ness of most weedguards.  

The exception we’re Bo’s jigs, he had great weedguards. The catch 22 is you run the risk of a turn off to a fish if they are too big.

Think they are getting hung by the hook?

Where I fish the ned, I think I lose them because they get caught in the rocks, not because the hook is getting snagged.

Weedless crappie jigs are the best thing ever for brushpiles though.

I don’t know but for the ones that are these might cure that issue.  I’m always looking for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and I haven’t bought a new mold in quite a while.

The neds i make with weed guards work great. I tried without and lost 20 in one day. Same ned with w weed guard and i only go through a few

I also put wg in most of mine.  Without they are short lived.

If your getting hung up in rocks too much,  just don’t let it sit too long. I learned the hard way for years doing this. Let it tick the bottom and keep your rod top at 11:00 and keep it moving. Don’t let it settle. If you can’t feel it then up the weight
