Ham Posted October 3, 2022 Author Posted October 3, 2022 At the 3/4 pole, I can report that I have definitely kept it goofy. I also got my Lifelist up to 202; my Flyrod Lifelist to 62, I’m at 122 species of fish for the year. I’ve caught 2340 fish so far this year so that’s tracking nicely towards 3000. I’m putting lots of miles on vehicles and catching fish in more counties .it’s been an awesome fishing year and I hate that is winding down. Oh Well, I’ll keep at it and we’ll see how things end up. grizwilson, Johnsfolly, nomolites and 3 others 6 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

Johnsfolly Posted October 3, 2022 Posted October 3, 2022 Out here in Maryland we do not have a large number of spring fed creeks or rivers. So with the change in the weather the fishing will slow down greatly over the next four to five weeks. So I am feeling the pressure. I have made progress towards the 15 lifers (which I actually upped it to 18 lifers) on my goal listing for the year. Currently sitting at 10 lifers for the year only. The successes: A freckled Blenny from Chincoteague Island Virgina - may be the farthest northern observation for this species so far. Rainwater killifish from a brackish water pond in Maryland A mountain redbelly dace from a creek in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia Thanks to @FishnDave on tips for Koi in St Louis A striped anchovy from Cape Charles Virginia on the lower Chesapeake side of the penisula. So my struggles have been real this year as well. I have been close to or lost lifers along the way. Lifers in sight but no interest Ribbonfish (cutlass fish) - Virginia Ozark Logperch and Johnny darters - Missouri Longnose Gar, Redfin shiner and Johnny darters - Kansas Interested or on the line 😒 Potomac sculpin - Maryland (have had several bite but not get hooked) Cownose ray - Maryland (a large one - broke off because I tried to horse it onto a mud ledge) Again with help from @FishnDave Grass Carp - Missouri (came up and crushed my float but not the jig) Shortnose gar - Missouri (lost one on my own when it cut my line then with Dave had several eat the float and not the jig - a recurring theme) Still have several targets locally (within three hours one way trip) and am trying to work in a trip to NC, then NJ and NY for fall and winter fish. So Hopefully more to come. FishnDave, Ham, Daryk Campbell Sr and 1 other 4

Catch the following species on flies: -Bowfin -Flier -Spotted Gar -Chain Pickerel With @Ham 's help, I caught my first bowfin earlier this summer. And in the past month+, I've caught more. I'm now up to 44 bowfin, compared to only 40 grass carp for the year. Also with @Ham, I had spotted gar on the line, but unable to land them. @Ham has never witnessed anyone struggle so hard to catch a fish, as I did to finally catch a chain pickerel, but he was patient, and we got it done! Have not seen any Fliers yet. Some other unlisted goals,...I exceeded my 200th (lifetime) Grass Carp caught on the fly rod in 2022, and exceeded 200 Koi (lifetime) on the fly rod, and only need 2 more Goldfish to hit 200 (lifetime) on the fly rod.
