If they can't catch them traditionally, they just aren't good fishermen. In fact, most of the people I know utilizing Livescope are really good fishermen already--they're just using a new tool. They can catch fish without it. Like Seth said, you can find cover even better with side imaging. The fact you can drop it in their face is fun, but without LS you'd still be able to find and catch them. It's just another thing for "traditionalists" to complain about. Hey I am a bank or if in a boat one without electronics fisherman. So I "hate all that newfangled electrogiznos" 🤣 Ryan Miloshewski 1
Johnsfolly Posted February 22, 2022 Posted February 22, 2022 Without slot limits the keepers in these lakes are the primary breeders. Removing them can have a very large effect in the populations. To me the bigger deal maybe be on the increased pressure put on those fish. Do they just keep going deeper or like what seems in bass populations move offshore and suspend.
fishinwrench Posted February 22, 2022 Posted February 22, 2022 I think you'll see noticably less people participating in tournaments after the wave of FFS subsides. Which IMO is something that needs to be reduced anyway. So I'm all for it. Nobody that has become proficient with FFS is going to succumb to a slow day and NOT rely on it to save them. And eventually a good number of people will grow tired/bored with fishing that way. The weight it takes to win tournaments hasn't changed drastically...... but the number of guys coming in within ounces of that weight certainly has.
Quillback Posted February 22, 2022 Posted February 22, 2022 It just keeps on getting better: Garmin unveils LiveScope Plus live-scanning sonar system

These tech companies are milking you just a little bit at a time. Clever strategy, hu?
Quillback Posted February 23, 2022 Posted February 23, 2022 Considering the cost of that stuff, they certainly are milking it. I keep waiting for the dust to settle before I get FFS, but it may never settle. Guess I'll have to continue using my 10 year old Birds.
MOPanfisher Posted February 23, 2022 Posted February 23, 2022 Most of the guys I know running a livescope fall into one of two categories. Either they would have caught a limit anyway, might have taken them a little longer but still would have, or category 2 unless there is a diver hooking fish into their hooks for them, they ain't gonna catch very many. Me I am lazy, and more importantly CHEAP, so I don't have anything more than a $100 unit. Heck often as not anymore if crappie fishing unless someone wants a mess to clean I am likely to throw them back, again the lazy part. Seth 1

There are a BUNCH of young "gamers" that took to this technology right away, and they are getting even better at it daily. They have no knowledge of "fishing" as we older guys know it...... but they'll take your money any given Sunday. I was considered a pretty solid fisherman before all of this.....but I am OUT now.
tjm Posted February 23, 2022 Posted February 23, 2022 Possession limits are why I feed the fish to the cats, can't can them, freeze them or dry them for future use there's not much point in dressing them.
