@fishinwrench @BilletHead what size are you guys tying? You've inspired me to whip some up. Thinking of tying a big ol' boy on a size 1 or 2 B10s.

Ryan, are you talking straight Clouser's or the ones with the blade on the rear?  If talking Clouser type flies, I use B10s. As big as I go is size 1 due to bucktail length. Even then I get more length because I then step up to the Half and Half Clouser. On what I am throwing for white bass I go with 4s.

thumbnail_IMG_20220308_145413249_HDR.jpg   If you are asking about Wrenche's wing ding blade in the rear I have never done that but am in the process.

Just in general I guess.

I love the looks of brass eyes, and I love that they don't get all beat up and distorted when they smack the side of the boat....or a rock....or whatever.   BUT to me they just aren't heavy enough (for their size).

I use lead eyes.  I hate that they are LEAD and I hate that they are soft and don't hold paint worth a crap.... But for my purposes they are the only option.

I like 1/50oz. on a #6

1/40oz. on a #4 (and sometimes a #2)

1/30oz on anything bigger than a #2

And I never go heavier than 1/30, or lighter than 1/50

I have no use for beadchain eyes on ANYTHING.

Just got some of the new Ahrex hooks for clousers and streamers. Size 2. We'll see how they perform. They are sturdier than a B10S as far as I can tell. Almost saltwater sturdy.

There are Tungsten barbell eyes available now.  I haven't tried them, but wonder if they'd be a better option than lead?

I don't like lead eyes. I have been going all brass.   Have not looked up the weight but they are 4mm and 4.8mm. Plus I have a friend that was a machinist in the ST. Louis area. When he worked the night shift he sometimes got bored because lathes were automatic once he set them up so if there was an empty lathe he would run me off some eyes :). I would say pupil size they are between the 4 and 4.8 but much wider. I use bead chain in the large size sometime also. So now limiting myself in eye weight size? Well like others I did not like sink tip but I have learned to love it and have three sink rates and let the line do the work.  An S3 2 to 3ips, S7 5 to 7ips and a super fast sink 5.5 to 8ips.

Well Glen got my thoughts running wild with the blade in the back.   Great test in the koi pond. I can see these working like a charm. A few of my favorite colors complete,

Their Pred hooks are pretty much interchangeable with B10s and work great, I’ve tied a bunch with them and like them a lot.
