Was going to buy a new rod online and have it shipped to the house. Anyone have any horror stories dealing with certain companies where the rod arrives broken? I've heard Amazon is terrible about it. I'm looking at a Dobyns rod.

Have ordered bunches of sticks, and blanks, online. Only real issues have been with Jann's, since they stopped using tubes.

TW, BPS/Cabela's, American Legacy, Fish USA, Midway, Sportsman's in Alabama, all fine. Plus a lot of eBay... that's not always great, but haven't had anything broken thankfully.

Have several Dobyns ordered that way. Dobyns runs a little softer, and more moderate, than you might think. If I wanted a M Dobyns, I'd order a MH, and wouldn't go near anything slower than F or XF.

I ordered it from TW. I figure they mail out rods all the time and know what their doing.

Yep. Should be fine from them. Nice solid tubes.

I've always had the best luck with American Legacy and TW. Generally they use Fed Ex . USPS could break a anvil.

I also just got a Virtus through Jewel and it was really well packed in a PVC tube.  The cardboard tubes are getting hard to get and expensive.

I saw where a tackle shop in Spingfield  is offering a discount if you bring them some tubes.

I think the stout cardboard tubes weigh more than drain pipe and cost more for shipping.

Not that I'm a huge Amazon fan, but I wouldn't hesitate to purchase anything from them. Their return policy is great. Print off the return slip and drop it off at a UPS store. You don't even have to repackage it.

We shop with our amazon app open to compare prices...   They can be downright cheap on some things.  Others not so much.  I guess that's the same everywhere.

Bait WRX in Springfield now carries Vitrus rods. Was in there a couple weeks ago and felt them for the first time. They are the same blanks as Falcon/Hammer rods (Ark-Rod in Harrison/Rock Spring) but have different handles (cork and Winn) to chose from as well as different real seats and guides. Nice rods and wouldn't hesitate to give them a look if I were in the market for a rod.

Got home from work and she was waiting for me. They shipped it UPS in a cardboard tube, very stable to say the least. They wrapped the tip and 4 guides in bubble wrap. Very happy with everything and the rod is great. I'll be using it for neds and shaky heads. Now what to do with this tube? It needs to be re-used. Some might confuse it with a Bazooka if I throw it over my shoulder.

Those tubes gotta be worth like $10 right???  Seriously.  Those things are stout.
