I recommend dragging a crank bait behind a log in an Ozark river😆

The most unusual catfish bite was a channel catfish that ate a WTD topwater bait in the Loutre river. Hit that bait like a largemouth. Was the worst tasting catfish that I have ever eaten and in fact turned me off of eating channel catfish moving forward. Still eat blues and we have eaten the white catfish out here in MD.

I've caught channels on flies.  Carlyle lake spillway.  You could add to a life list of rough fish over there on the right spring day.   I spent a fews years driving back and forth 2 hours and I hit it good a couple times.  Most times were a bust even if the water temp and level "should" have been right.

I also caught two nice sized goggleye.  I let them go so quick then regretted not getting a photo.

You should have. Flathead are the best tasting catfish there is.

I agree.  I've had it and it was very good.  I wasn't sure if there was a length limit or season.  I didn't want to keep the poor thing while I googled that up.  Can't go wrong letting them go.....  I've had my boat over 3 years and there's never even been water in the livewells much less a fish.🤣

We have been having good success going to Shelbyville lake spillway the last couple of years. Even saw a musky on one of those trips. So haven't ventured down to Carlyle.

Now that you mention it, I need to check if mine even has livewells.

I couldn't own a boat without a good livewell. It sees fish almost every time I go out, especially this time of year when I'm chasing slabs.
