I know that @Ham is interested in catching some larger fallfish, cousin to creek chubs. This guys fish is a monster. My largest is over 11 inches and still far less than a pound. That fish fought hard on light line. I can imagine how this one fought.

This guy is on a similar quest as @Devan S. in terms of targeting Master Angler class fish.

Hey @FishnDave these guys do readily take flies. My first flyfish caught fish was a fallfish in PA a few decades ago (1990). I was fishing a small dry fly drifting it down stream. I lost sight of the fly and went to cast again. The fish went flying past my head on the back cast and landed on the bank behind me 🙄. I'm sure that it was far more surprised than I 😅.

2 casts.....man if it could always be that easy.

Edit to add after re-reading: Is said he drove 3 hours and hiked 1.5 miles to get to his spot. I know it said 2 casts but clearly there was some time spent there so the 2 casts is deceiving.

Virginia looks to do a lot of really cool Trophy and Master angler challenges but its just not worth the drive for me. haha

I travel quite a bit for lifers. So that drive is not an issue. Haven't hiked that far, typically less than 1/2 mile, to a spot. I will have to look in VA challenges, since we do fish in VA a bit and have reciprocal licenses for saltwater fishing. So only need to buy a freshwater nonres license. I already have a couple lifer targets in VA for this year.
