Johnsfolly
Â New Alternative state record walley caught on a trotline. Nice fish. Would have loved to catch one like that on hook and lineđ Tim Stillings of Morrisville caught the 7-pound, 8-ounce fish using a trotline on the Sac River. Â Polk County man catches new state record walleye Tim Stillings of Morrisville caught the 7-pound, 8-ounce fish using a trotline on the Sac River. JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. â The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) congratulates Tim Stillings of Morrisville for catching a 7-pound, 8-ounce walleye from the Sac River. Stillings caught the fish May 16 using a trotline. His record breaks the previous alternative methods record of 6-pounds, 14-ounces set in 2018. âWe run trotlines for catfish,â Stillings explained. âItâs somewhat of a dying art. A lot of people donât do it anymore. But this was the first walleye weâve caught on a trotline, and it happened to be a state record.â Stillings said he considers this record a joint accomplishment with his friend, Jake Myers. âRunning trotlines is a lot of work,â he said. âJake was the one who suggested that it could be a state record. I didnât realize they had separate records for alternative methods.â MDC staff verified the fishâs weight on a certified scale in Bolivar. This is the third state record fish caught in 2022. Stillings said he filleted and froze the fish for eating but plans to have a replica made. âFor those who ask where I caught it, right in the mouth,â he laughed. Missouri state record fish are recognized in two categories: pole-and-line and alternative methods. Alternative methods include: trotline, throwline, limb line, bank line, jug line, gig, bow, crossbow, underwater spearfishing, snagging, snaring, grabbing, or atlatl. Smithvillesteve
Dont think i could put a knife thru a 7 lb 8 oz walleye. Not knocking Mr Stillings at all just saying I personally could not do that. I fish for walleye at Stockton quite a bit and i cant bring myself to fillet up a walleye over 20 inches. Just my personal opinion here. Congrats to Mr. Stillings. Daryk Campbell Sr, snagged in outlet 3 and Walleyedmike
