My insurance wouldn’t pay until I was nearly legally blind. I could wait but I bucked up and did it. Doc said it might be 10 years or more until it was bad enough to have insurance pay.

You might want to look at an Advantage plan instead of supplemental as in some cases, Advantage plans are free vs paying for a supplemental. They are free because the Feds pick up the bill. It differs by state and provider. Advantage plans can also provide some vision and dental benefits too. Nick Adams, BilletHead, bfishn and 1 other 4

I'll take them again and some others that are offered at the Govt Center... Deadstream and Quillback 2

Mercy Health accepts their Advantage plan and that's where I get almost all of my care so it's a no-brainer. And you can always change out, I believe you can do that once a year, or you can just drop it if for some reason it isn't working. BilletHead and snagged in outlet 3 2

The ones at the Gov Center are put on by guys who want your business. Which is fine if you are comfortable telling them you are not interested in their services when you are done. The emphasis was on what group most of your doctors are in. Quillback 1

There are definitely insurance agents out there peddling their wares. Another thing I found out is that once you get within a year of 65, you'll get junk mail and emails from all over the place, I bet I get 4 or 5 letters a week from people peddling supplemental or Advantage plans. At first it looked good but looked at it more and I will stay with what I have. oneshot Quillback 1
