Fished in TV Tom's boat this morning, and I'll start by saying we caught oodles of spotted bass.  We put 65 in the boat and lost quite a few too.  Not one largemouth, not one smallmouth, did we catch.  Tom did have one nice largemouth up to the boat that got off, but that was it for other bass.

Only 3 of the spots were keepers.  We caught a lot of 13-14" fish, nice chunky fish, hard fighters, but certainly not tourney fish.

Best place was off the end of a dock that was out over 50 feet of water.  I was swimming Keitechs, 3/8 oz head, 3.8 sized.  I'd let them drop for a 10 count, slow reel, let it drop, repeat.  I also threw a drop-shot, 1/4 oz weight, Zoom Finesse worm in Old Purple, with the drop shot I'd throw it 30 feet or so, let out a bit of line and let it pendulum down and they'd usually grab it as it was dropping.  Tom was getting them on spoons, an underspin and a Ned.

Our 2nd best place was a flat off the bank by some gravel points.  The Keitech was working for me there too, but I was letting it go to the bottom and slowly working it back.  Tom was dragging a jig and they were eating that too.  Fish were in 20-30 FOW.

We threw some top water early, but not much interest was shown by the fish.

As we were coming back to the ramp, a very low flying C-130 came over the ridge, flew over the channel and was right above the next ridge and kind of banked over the channel and kept on going.  Couldn't have been more that 200 feet off the deck.

Some photos would make this a great report😉!

That sounds like a super day.  We had for us a great day up the James but it was on shaky.  I didn’t get a bite on a swim bait.  We both also tried the Ned but they didn’t want it either.

Maybe should've taken a scenery shot, didn't want to take any pics of 15" spots.  😀

Wish I could've gotten a pic of the C-130, but did not have enough time.

Reached a new level of “stealing” someone’s fishing spot 😂
