Overhyped

After a life on the road working I have had them all.  I don't do fast food burgers anymore, but always preferred the flame broiled ones if given a choice.  Last time I had a burger was at Five Guys, it was a burger, not bad, and came with a LOT of decent fries.

I stop by McD's every once in a while for a couple of plain sausage biscuits.  I like them and last I checked they were something like a $1.29 each.

I am in the same mindset as @Quillback in that I don't really eat fast food burgers that often anymore. Back in Columbia, we would go to Culver's and I like their mushroom and swiss butter burgers with their onion rings. We don't have culvers out this way. Mostly eat chicken sandwiches from Chik-Fil-A or Arby's. I like the smoked brisket and the reuben from Arby's. Thinking back nearly all of the recent MCD sandwiches over the last year or so were filet-o-fish sandwiches. I don't like Wendys burgers. Their chicken sandwiches are meh. Whoppers are ok and I might have one or maybe two every so often. Dec 2021 was the last time I ate at a Five guys, which I do like, but lately have been getting their hotdogs. I remember that because it was part of a tautog fishing trip in Ocean City 🙂.

The Filet-o-Fish is one of my favorites, and if they still make the McChicken the way they used to, it is pretty good.

Anyone try BK's onion ring sauce on fries and burgers.  If you haven't, do yourself a favor and try it once. One of my fast food favorites.

I had one for the first time in a few years a couple months ago, I swear that the patties are way thinner and smaller than they used to be. Used to be my favorite cheap chicken sandwich. As far as I'm concerned the only thing McDonalds had going for them was that they were cheap, and they aren't that cheap anymore. Some people worship their fries, but I think a fry is a fry, no real preference, there's only so much you can do to a fried potato.

There's a small chain called Burger Time, used to be one in Detroit Lakes, MN. Probably one of the best burger joints there ever was in the area, the building was demolished for the highway diversion and they never reopened. From what I've heard from family the chain is nothing like it used to be though. 

Any Long John Silvers or A&W fans here? Used to go to the A&W in Lowry City occasionally before they closed it. Haven't been to LJS in years, but used to like it.

My Long John Silvers is dirty and nasty so I don't go anymore, but I loved them when I was a kid.  Fan of A&Ws also.

I've mostly given up on fast food burgers.  As often as not I get a stomach ache after having one.  Here in Ozark, Cafe B-29 is THE place for a proper hamburger.  In Springfield, Bairs will fix you a good one - as dolled up as you want it, though I'm not that type.  House cut thick fries cooked right too. 

Black Sheep in SGF is top shelf.  And the Black Sheep french fries are truly world class.

I'm from Nevada and the White Grill double cheeseburger with grilled onions, tomato and pickle w. mustard and ketchup remains the gold standard.

Firp and Burp made the same quality burger and suzie Q french fries.  Firp and Bob ran the White Grill together until the other place opened.  I have a story from there and the way back machine that's never going to be posted on the internet, but I'll tell you sometime face to face only.
