what has caused the shift from Turkey Vulture to Black Vulture? 30-35 years ago I had never seen a Black Vulture and now they are all I see.

The black buzzards are invasive.  They're aggressive and out compete and kill their competition.

Yes, and really bad on livestock farmers.  In March of 2021 You can get a permit here in Missouri to kill them. I know in Texas, Indiana and Oklahoma they could be killed by a permit. Did not know in Missouri so I looked it up.

i think you are right Dutch. i think they are doing ok in certain parts of the state. i still hunt them in the spring on my buddies land outside of Stockton. He still has quite a few birds around his place. But generally i think the numbers are in decline. We will see.

Not a turkey vulture. It is a black vulture.

Like these? They were all lined up for a shoebox-full of road kill. When a car passed, the lone 'eater' would fly to the back of the line, and the next one up would take his place. Pretty funny.

Bella Vista should be renamed "Road Kill City" or "Vultureburg".
