Ham Posted July 10, 2023 Author Posted July 10, 2023 64) Grass Carp so, I had told Dave I might go frustrate myself trying for grass carp at a local community pond before work. There are decent numbers of them in there, but the darn things are tough to fool. Buuuut, I got really Lucky because the local Parks and Rec guys were weeding the edges of the pond and the clippings had the grass carp in a good mood. They still were super spooky, but we’re eating. So I put an unweighted blob fly that was green in front of them over and over again until I hooked up. i texted @FishnDave this pic. I was hooked and feeling Froggy! then I texted this one.in keeping with my Florida Traditions, my reel decided to detach itself. I went from not too worried to very concerned. No worries though! It all worked out. I hope to catch many more this year, but another flyrod target captured. FishnDave, Quillback, BilletHead and 5 others 8 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. FishnDave Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 @Ham Stocked pond (triploid?) Grass Carp are BY FAR the toughest ones to catch. Spookiest fish I've ever seen, and super-picky feeders. Naturally reproducing stream fish are much easier to catch. Supreme skills, man! 🏆 Ham and BilletHead 1 1
Ham Posted July 11, 2023 Author Posted July 11, 2023 Most Grass Carp are real PIA to get to eat. These at the community pond are awful. Im hopeful I Can abuse the ones in Thw lower White River grizwilson and FishnDave 2 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

I had to look up the fly, it looks really neat. Might have to tie one or 2. Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. It’s wild how Bluegill choke down the back half of it. So far, I’ve caught LMB, Spotted Bass, White Bass, Bluegill, and LNG. I’ve lost a Spotted Gar and either a Mooneye or a Skipjack too.
