They are a species that inhabit several states. Pat and I have caught them in native ranges in Montana, Nevada, Idaho, Oregon that I can think of off the bat. I suppose a rainbow trout is a rainbow trout no matter where you are. Similar as a bluegill looking fish no matter what they are is called a perch.
