I might be able to help you understand that attitude..... It only takes one experience with a POS LEO to sour you for life, and POS LEO's have become more and more common in the last 15-20 years. That may begin to change in the near future however, beings as how video surveillance and social media have become a constant thing in almost everyone's lives. There are YT channels devoted to it.....so if you think law abiding people are just being pricks for not LOVING & TRUSTING law enforcement officers, just do a little video searching. It will immediately become evident that VERY FEW LEO's settled into their career position because of their love for mankind, and a desire to be helpful to society. It definitely goes WAY beyond Memphis. And does so daily. awhuber 1
fishinwrench Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 As far as MDC agents checking everyone's permit without reasonable suspicion.........Well, should you be pulled over and have your driver's license and insurance papers checked everytime a cop passed you on the road ? (A checkpoint between your house and the grocery store). Have you ever encountered a MDC agent while hunting/fishing that didn't immediately order you to produce your pedigree? It's a witch hunt, don't ya think? Cuz I do. Lots of people do, and they ain't all bad apples. If you don't have any reason to think that I might be doing something wrong......then Smile, Wave, and GO ON ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS! 👋 And BTW.....What IS your business? Because checking permits is all I've ever seen them do. 🤔 Call them about a REAL ISSUE, like 200 dead gigged trout on a section of river......and they ain't got time to investigate THAT. I’d have to say that is extremely impolite to stop a man fishing out in a stream and order him to stop what he is doing an walk over to you to prove he isn’t committing a crime. I have no duty to walk over to you at your command as my license is here legally in my hand. If the matter is urgent enough to rudely interrupt my pastime then surely a short walk into the water would be appropriate.
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted March 3, 2023 Author Posted March 3, 2023 Interesting debate. One one hand we complain that there aren't enough agents, and on the other we complain that we are interrupted too often by the few that there are. I don't mind paying my way. The licenses are really quite cheap. Come check me, and leave all the other guys alone. I don't mind. I've had way more good experiences with law enforcement than I've had bad. I understand the problems but I really believe we as people decide if we want to react negatively or positively. I've changed my mindset and try to see the better of most situations. Life is alot less stressful thenlast 10 or 15 years. BilletHead 1 Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. I love having my driver's license being enough for a fishing and hunting license. BilletHead 1

MOPanfisher Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 I understand where you are coming from and I have had dealings with some agents and a few cops who were to put it midly aholes. I just have never figured it would be a benefit to me to be that guy. Some are happy to talk others simply check you and move on, doing their job.
Quillback Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 Got checked for the first time in Arkansas after 15 years of fishing here. Been checked 4 or 5 times on Table Rock. Have not had any issues.

What there isn't enough of are agents actually doing anything beneficial.
