Made it down to Lake Fork yesterday.    My guide was Jason Conn, recommended by 2 or 3 of you guys.   He was a great guy and we had a good time even though the fishing was tough.    I did get this 7 lber and another that was about 2.5.   He caught 4 with the biggest at 4.5.   I stayed at the Lake Fork resort, nothing fancy but very convenient and nice folks.

Nice fish!   We were talking about Fork today when we were out on the lake, it can be tough at times from what I hear.

Awesome that you made it down. Middle of last month we talked about heading down that next weekend, but chose a trip on the Harley instead north.

I seen that picture Jason posted of you guys doubling up. Glad you got to go and caught fish. My last trip there my biggest was a 7.4 the last hour of the last day.  Trip before that i caught a 7 on the very first cast of the trip.

Did you guys go back into Little Caney and check out all the gators?

No, we didn't get back there.    We hit about 4 spots and spent a good amount of time graphing and searching.    It was over an hour before we put the first line in, but I appreciated Jason's efforts to make sure we weren't just hauling water.     We only threw carolina rig and big ribbontail worms.   I caught the 7 lber on a tequila sunrise 10 inch worm from V&M baits.  3/8 oz. texas rig.    I didn't catch the first fish until about 11:30 or so.

More and more people are spending at least 2 hours graphing to locate fish before they cast. It’s a great way to be successful but quite boring at the same time. Those big worms are a staple there, as well as most bodies of water this time of year.

Try it sometime in Feb-Mar. Then you can just locate with a big spinnerbait.

Probably been there fifty times, but only from November to March. Never tried it in the summer.

And I never did see any alligators! But spent most of my time in Birch or Little Mustang. Love that lake.

I would like to go back there in the late Winter-early Spring timeframe.     We stayed near the lower end mostly around Mustang, Little Mustang, near Little Caney and on up near Birch Creek.    Mostly fished near main Lake points.

This week's Honey Hole outdoors show was on Fork, probably filmed it a few weeks ago.  Bill Wilcox, the host, caught a good one, didn't weigh it, but I'd guess at least 8 lbs.  They also caught several in the 4-5 lb. range.  Mostly on crank baits with a few c-rig fish.

Wilcox made an interesting statement, he said Fork has been 7 feet low for a few years while the dam was being worked on, during that time a lot of brush grew up on the banks.  All that brush is flooded now and Wilcox is of the opinion that should lead to good fishing down the road.

November is a great time to fish Fork, did it many times when I was living in Louisiana.
