Oh heck yeah!     It's Jerkbaits & A-rigs, then it's Hula-grubs and Wiggle Warts, then it's dragging Carolina rig lizards......And then the spawn begins and we get to do some sight fishing and jig pitchin'.

Then just about the time you're running out of jigs and Flukes it's time to start worming deeper brushpiles.    Then before ya know it the better bite is on heavy jigs and deep crankbaits.

Starts cooling off and we get that first cold snap.....Time to polish up those spinnerbait blades and sharpen those swim jig hooks.  But wait...... they'll crush a Rattle Trap in the backend flats too !

Oh a cool Fall rain....oh chit.... Where's my Buzz bait & Zara Spook box????

If you're a bass fisherman and you find yourself getting bored throwing the same bait for weeks at a time......you are either asleep at the wheel, or you just ain't paying attention.  🤟   IMG_20230429_171853491.jpg

Or how about a floating lizard?

I’m just primarily after big bass. Trout,  stripers and whites are ok. Crappie are a desire too just for eating. But I’ll take ocean seafood over freshwater seafood any day…Sea Bass being my favorite. Pure heaven on a plate.

Big bass and big trout.  That’s really all I care about anymore.

I have messed with them if I see them while targeting something else. Never connected as of yet so I can't tell you. Many of my strange catches have been a byproduct of chasing something else. Never said they were as easy as trout. I find wild trout easy if they are not taking something specific size and pattern I don't have. Not saying they are smart just conditioned to one thing. Trout Park can be easy but have seen the same thing on something specific.

I know you don't make a habit of fishing Bennitt springs. People clean the fish in the spring creek. When that happens there is a gut hatch. Fish are feeding on the offal and remaining flesh. People constantly try to match the gut fly and it works but the fish can and do recognize that and will seek out the real thing avoiding the gut fly.

Yeah Bennett needs cleaning stations like roaring has... it's nasty

Yes and no. the gut hatch makes some big fish. Kinda funny watching a mob of fish chasing a carcass down the spring branch tearing it to shreds.

All those salmon dying each year in the Alaska streams is what makes that a great ecosystem. It is critical component for it. I bet its nasty up there too.

I invented the mop/guy fly back in the early 70’s at Bennett.   Tennis shoe, shoe string whacked em.   My brother told my purest fly fisher dad how I was catching them one after another on a shoe string.   I don’t think pops ever got over it😂

Those fish get really conditioned to fish cleaning. You can actually hand feed them. They will actually come up and take a piece of gut out of your hand. I have taken my rid tip and splashed it in the water and fish will come from all directions to investigate.  It is really funny.

Didn't they take up donations to help fund the new cleaning station at RRSP?

I know that for the year or so the park was without a CS that the dog walkers really got upset with the stream butchers and the great flock of Black Vultures it attracted, I had hoped that eventually the buzzards would drive the dogs away, oh well. I didn't pay much attention as a mostly let-um-go angler but I think I saw signs asking for donations.

At any rate if y'all want a CS at BSSP, that might be a way to get it. Get the non fishers involved and let them fund it.
