I am in St. Louis and it's just too dang humid and I haven't scouted anything. Don't want to push myself too much traipsing through areas I haven't set eyes or boots on prior. Maybe I'll head out to Busch Wildlife tomorrow with Hank.. This Ryan. Yes don't mess yourself up worse. I should be able to ride this dove pattern until the next significant cold front pushes them south. Just the heat sucks. BTW the water you seen in the boat lanes is gone up at 3 and 4. I did some recon up there earlier last week. A trickle of bird's but that is all. Might go one more time for a peek but I won't hunt there with the masses early. Yep the little drought we had really did it in. We need a very wet October to have anything worth a darn in that area. 1 and 2 will produce a bit but not my cup of tea there. “To those devoid of imagination a blank place on the map is a useless waste; to others, the most valuable part.”--Aldo Leopold

I live pretty close but haven’t been in years due to crowds. Last time I tried, guys had camped all night at Weldon Spring to save their spots. Literally a guy every 40 - 50 yards all over the fields. Crazy! Daryk Campbell Sr 1

Nah I woke up at 5am, walked outside, and said "nope." Humid and 77 degrees. I'll wait until the cool down Wednesday. I have been apart of that before, but after the last couple of years hunting opening days for various animals, I am likely never going to again. Not enjoyable in the least. nomolites and snagged in outlet 3 2 “To those devoid of imagination a blank place on the map is a useless waste; to others, the most valuable part.”--Aldo Leopold

When I was a kid, my dad & the dog and I would get home from quail hunting, leave our vests on the front porch and take our guns in to wipe down and put away. Mom would grab a paper sack and a Tupperware bowl....and just go deal with it. ❤️ They don't make women like that anymore. 😢 snagged in outlet 3 1

Hank Shaw recipe. Follow it to the T. Green peppercorn makes it. Made this Wednesday night. It was so good I thawed out some GWT breasts I had been saving and made it with them last night. One of the easiest, yet most delicious dishes I've ever made. The green peppercorns are a game changer. I suggest everybody this teal season do this. https://honest-food.net/dove-breast-recipe/ BilletHead 1 “To those devoid of imagination a blank place on the map is a useless waste; to others, the most valuable part.”--Aldo Leopold
Gavin Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 Haven’t even thought about it much. It’s been a really busy year, I have a mild case of the Rona, so I’ll have a few days off this week to prep. Brushing blinds next weekend.
Ryan Miloshewski Posted September 11, 2023 Author Posted September 11, 2023 Hobbled my way to two teal hunts this weekend and me and a buddy shot seven birds. Not great shooting, but we saw a lot opening morning in Central MO. This cold front today should make the rest of the week/weekend solid. We grilled them up last night and as always they were delicious.
