aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted September 4, 2023 Author Posted September 4, 2023 IT doesnt really have the head of a cottonmouth but it was just so much longer than most the common water snakes i see. The Lizard in its mouth had to be a foot long dan hufferd 1
BilletHead Posted September 5, 2023 Posted September 5, 2023 That is really cool! Common water snake. I would say a mudpuppy was on the menu. navery and dan hufferd 2 "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" fishinwrench Posted September 5, 2023 Posted September 5, 2023 Snakes are really on the move now. I haven't seen very many all Summer....but just here in the last week or so I've had run-ins with a hognose, several blacks, a kingsnake, and multiple ringnecks all right here by the house. They all get a free pass except for the copperheads....which I haven't seen lately. The hognose got a good shake from my dog and went into "dead mode" but I intervened and I'm pretty sure he made it out alive. ☺️ snagged in outlet 3 1
snagged in outlet 3 Posted September 5, 2023 Posted September 5, 2023 I cover a lot of miles on the Katy trail on my bike and they are definitely coming out of the bottoms up to the bluffs. Happens every year spring and fall. All headed the same way. Turtles too. In the spring they all head to the bottoms. FishnDave 1
jdmidwest Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 Box turtles were really moving the past weekend. Been a long time since a "spread head" has been seen on the farm. The hognose snake went extinct in my neck of the woods a long time ago. I did have a speckled kingsnake early in the spring. But have not seen any snakes for a while. But I have not been stirring up the habitat much lately, just keeping things mowed short. snagged in outlet 3 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S.
