They actually look like more fun over land than over water. It has to be FLAT land though. They can't climb a hill or go up a boat ramp. Downhill is fine. Daryk Campbell Sr 1

tjm Posted February 19 Posted February 19 They got air brakes to stop them? I don't get how they can be safe over land it there is no means of stopping them. Over water I can see, stop the engine and it drops into the water, might be a little rough at 35mph, but mostly still safe; on land maybe not.

They have what is like a big fat tractor inner-tube that surrounds the "body". If you hit a tree or something it just bounces off. When you kill the power it just bounces to a stop. . tjm 1
netboy Posted February 19 Posted February 19 I took this one across the English Channel a couple times back in the 80's. Going over it was a fun ride in some choppy seas and lots of folks seasick. The trip back to England was calm and that thing was fast and LOUD. They quit using them in the early 2000's after the chunnel (channel tunnel) was completed. snagged in outlet 3, Nick Adams, bfishn and 2 others 5

Some of them have thrust diverters that offer a "brake" function, as well as 15mph in "reverse". 🤔 https://mantis.neoterichovercraft.com/buck-bg.webm Daryk Campbell Sr and tjm 1 1 I can't dance like I used to.
