An Empty Bennett Springs

After I got done fishing on the Niangua, I went to Bennett Spring to look around and take pictures. I've never been there on a day where the park was fully closed to fishing until today, and seeing it so empty felt a little strange. The stream was certainly not empty of fish however; a fact I noted for when I'm next there Friday-Monday.

I they let us fish week days, I'd use the parks a lot more. The system is set up  for only people that have weekends off.

Brings back memories. I learned to fly fish at Bennett with my Dad back in the late 50's and early 60's.

Friday, sat,sun, Monday 

   I think Friday and Monday are week days. Go fishing TJM.

We got there on Thursday afternoon one CnR season.  Dude was fishing in the spring hole.  He didn’t have a care in the world or a clue it was closed to fishing.   We just sat in front of our cabin and reveled in his success.   We didn’t want to ruin his day😆

Guy must have been so excited 😆.  Bennett Spring all to yourself is the stuff of dreams. 

And probably a sign something is up. Any time I'm on a very popular trout stream in Missouri and I'm the only one at the access, I am running through scenarios in my brain. Is there a flash flood coming from upriver everyone else knows about? Sewage leak? Someone released piranhas?

It does happen from time to time that you really do just have the stream to yourself and everything is more or less okay (happened yesterday on the Niangua actually; it was supposed to be worse weather than it was, plus deer season and a Monday) but it's the sort of thing that makes one question themselves. Except that guy, apparently.

I haven’t seen another person on my last 5 trips.  It’s great!

Edit:   The trips were not to a trout park.
