I beg to differ.    Drowning would suck !  

That last 8-12 minutes of misery and pain would cancel out every minute of pleasure you've enjoyed throughout your entire life.

I almost drown at one point until I completely blacked out. Before that it was calm I could see bubbles going up.

 

Then someone pulled me out and pumped water from my lungs and I continued living.

So you are claiming that from the moment your lungs started taking on water, until you went unconscious...... everything was "calm and peaceful"? 

How freakin' DRUNK were you ?    Because it sounds like you were on the verge of unconsciousness before you ever even got wet.

No, but I saved a girl from drowning when I was 19.   And although she was wasted on Jack Daniels & Quaaludes it was VERY obvious that she wasn't enjoying herself one bit.

Something like 12 years ago, I came upon an elderly lady clinging to pole timber in the water. A kayak was overturned and some feet away. When I got closer I could see she was in a nightgown. A pontoon boat with a family came over as well. Among us we were able to get her out of the water. I took her to the marina. The Holiday Island fire and rescue arrived moments later and took over. Evidently,  she got in her grandchildren's kayak, paddled across the lake and tipped the kayak over in an attempted suicide. Reflex kicked in and she grabbed a tree. All the way back to the marina, she scolded me, saying we should just have let her drown.

Pat and I have pulled a body out of the water at caplinger mills.

    I don't want to go that way.

I did not know that. That probably was very upsetting.

                   Yea I have shared that on here before. Somebody did something stupid above a low head dam during a high-water event. We were in a boat fishing below. Tried a rescue without us becoming victims. Too late for that but we did recover the body. I will share that someday we are together.
