Big Keene Posted Thursday at 03:50 PM Posted Thursday at 03:50 PM looks like we might get to fish Taneycomo on friday afternoon and saturday. ive never fished it before and my only trout are from the urban program around STL. we're fishing spinning gear, and i have a bunch of 16th and 8th oz white/gray maribou jigs that i tied. also jerkbaits, small spoons and 3" swimbaits. is there a hot color/pattern/technique currently? Illegitimi non carborundum (Never let the bastards grind you down)

Stop into Lilleys and they'll line you up with the latest jig colors. Sometimes white/grey is good. Let us know how you do please. Terrierman and Big Keene 1 1

Members Tom C Posted Thursday at 04:28 PM Members Posted Thursday at 04:28 PM Yep, Lilley's Landing/Marina will have everything you need. If they are running a lot of water the heavier jigs and jerkbaits are good. If no water generation suspending a small 1/25 to 1/50th jig under an indicator can work. Pink Power Worm under an indicator is very effective if nothing else is working (can not use it in the trophy area). Make sure you are familiar with the regulations, there are bait restrictions and fish restrictions depending on where you are on the lake. Good Luck! Big Keene and Terrierman 1 1

I'm surprised there hasn't been a widespread shad kill yet... Which would play into the white bite.... Good luck! Terrierman, Big Keene and Quillback 3
Quillback Posted Thursday at 07:09 PM Posted Thursday at 07:09 PM See if we can get Milo to comment: @Ryan Miloshewski One thing I learned a few weeks ago is that 2 lb. test with a 1/16th oz jig will get more bites than 8lb.test with a 1/8 oz jig in the trophy area. Down below Lilley's we found a bunch of fresh stockers and they did not care. We were told black was the hot color, but sculpin or ginger as some call it, worked best. The steep rocky banks were better for jerkbaits, the shallower riffly stuff was better for jigs. BilletHead, Big Keene and Daryk Campbell Sr 3
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted Thursday at 07:53 PM Root Admin Posted Thursday at 07:53 PM Well I just got back from the dam... threw a white jig and only had one bite - a little brown. Disappointing. 4 units running too. But it could be the day. Switched to a sculpin jig and caught 2 rainbows. Better but not great. Made the trip - my mic shut off in the middle of the run up there! So I have to go back out and do it again. Darn. Only 2 units are supposed to be on this pm. We'll see if that makes a difference. Daryk Campbell Sr and Big Keene 2

Ryan Miloshewski Posted Thursday at 10:16 PM Posted Thursday at 10:16 PM I agree with what Pete and Phil said. Phil being the most up to date on tactics. As far as things that work all the time for me, jigs with 3-lb braid to 2-lb fluoro works great. Jig size depending on water flow. I really like a 1/16-oz a majority of the time. If it's 4 units running, go to 1/8. With jerkbaits, 110+1 or deeper with 4 units running and 110 or less with less units running. Really, my favorite are Duane's Signature Series or Megabass, but I am sure most would work. As Pete said, stop into Phil's spot (Lilley's Landing) and talk to the folks in the fly shop and Blake on the dock. They will put you in the right direction with the most up to date information. Feel free to send me a message if you want to discuss anything in depth! Good luck, catch a giant!
