Maverickpro201 Posted May 27 Posted May 27 Had to replant my tomatoes this year. My first planting drowned from to much rain and I have soil that drains well. So we will see how the second planting goes. Looks like I will have late tomatoes this year. And late salsa making with the roma's and peppers. ness 1

I have lost several tomato plants to drowning and several others are not thriving. If I get a crop I will be lucky. The sugar snaps have done well, but have ceased flowering already. Really short season.
jdmidwest Posted June 30 Author Posted June 30 Wet Spring has taken its toll. First run of Sweet Corn is pretty sparse. Everything else is on track. Harvest today, fresh green beans, first run sweet corn, a cucumber and squash. Rest is looking pretty good. 1farmer Posted June 30 Posted June 30 The kids flew to an island in the pacific this past week. So mom and dad had to check on the kitties and raid the garden. We now have four types of squash, two types of cherry maters, some purple pole beans, and the Cherokee purple maters have started to ripen. After eating the Cherokee purples as soon as they got ripe I decided to leave the last two that were getting ripe for them. That's what us thoughtful dads do. snagged in outlet 3, BilletHead, ness and 1 other 3 1
Quillback Posted June 30 Posted June 30 I have one cherry tomato plant and it is starting to yield. Planted cukes a little late, but they are looking good, should get some cukes soon. Asparagus plants are now 1 year old, growing well, and I hope to start harvesting next year. Got a good rain yesterday afternoon, it's been hot and dry, so it was needed. snagged in outlet 3 1
ness Posted June 30 Posted June 30 I brought in our first tomato today. Not quite ready, but want it to finish inside safe from the squirrels. We were away for two weeks and had some friends come by and run the drip irrigation a few times a week, plus we got some rain. Temps were hot a few days, but not too bad. It's so amazing to see the difference when we got home! I planted bush beans before we left - they're now about 8 inches tall. Tomatoes are coming on strong, especially the cherries. I've got a few peppers/chilies about ready to pick. Beets are ready when I get a chance to pull them. Herbs are all usable now and we'll eat chard this week. I shoulda cut off the garlic scapes before we left, because they were about 5 feet tall and draining energy away from the bulbs. Oops. Leaves are starting to turn, so it won't be too long. BilletHead 1 John
rps Posted June 30 Posted June 30 I've harvested 5 or six cherry tomatoes (Sweet 100 and Veranda) but my other plants are still green, even my Early Girls. Not even a blush. I am hopeful the extra rain will help the squirrel problem because they won't be as thirsty and their other forage will be lush. I've always been optimistic.  BilletHead 1
