ness Posted August 8 Posted August 8 Off topic kinda, but my suburban neighborhood is buzzing because we've got some bobcats around. This is one a neighbor took a pic of on my fence last year. She said it didn't seem to care there were people around Then these in the last week or so These next ones are screen grabs from a video somebody shared. I wish I could figure out how to share the whole video though because it's pretty cool. Anyhoo -- this juvenile dashes across the street and goes into creep mode up to some bushes. He gets right up there and a rabbit darts out to the left and gets away. He just looks kinda stunned/pissed. You can just make out the rabbit and its white tail to the left of the cat. Quillback Posted August 8 Author Posted August 8 That's pretty neat. I have only seen 2 bobcats, both at Table Rock, in my entire life. snagged in outlet 3 and ness 2
Greasy B Posted August 8 Posted August 8 I lifetime spent outdoors and I can count the Bobcats I’ve seen on one hand. snagged in outlet 3, ness, Quillback and 1 other 4 His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. BilletHead Posted August 8 Posted August 8 A bunch alive lurking around the house. Some in my leg hold traps, some in my sights predator calling. One get a squirrel at our bird feeders and on right behind the house get a rabbit ten yards out the back window. I like them. tjm Posted August 8 Posted August 8 Just because you didn't see them doesn't mean you weren't close to them a few times. Their camouflage is near perfect and they are so fearless that you can be within feet of them and they won't flush like most critters do. I've seen a few, skint a couple and walked within ~25' of one standing in my backyard, without seeing it until I had passed it and then it just walked away unhurried. Had hounds tree several when we hunted at night and those were the only ones that acted fearful, often jumping from the tree and running again. Coon hounds were not encouraged to run the cats. Quillback Posted August 8 Author Posted August 8 As much as I am outdoors I'm sure there have been some close by that I did not see. One of the ones I saw on Table Rock was on a steep rocky bank. The cat's coloration blended in well with the rocks. I was fishing the bank, pretty close to the cat and it moved and that caught my eye. If it had stayed still I would never have seen it. It just walked away slowly. Greasy B, snagged in outlet 3 and Johnsfolly 3
Devan S. Posted August 8 Posted August 8 Some of the coolest predator hunts I've been apart of almost always involves bobcat. They suddenly appear, you're not sure where they came from, or when but poof there they are 20 yards away in kill mode. Johnsfolly, Quillback, Greasy B and 1 other 4
ness Posted August 8 Posted August 8 We were pheasant hunting in South Central Kansas many years ago. We walking a line in tall grass and a big cat got up in front of us and ran straight away. It was gone in a flash, and there was some debate about what it was. We agreed we did see a dark tip on the tail. It was tan and we didn't notice spots. It was pretty large, so we landed on mountain lion. But honestly we were never 100% certain. It was a pretty cool experience though. Greasy B, Quillback and Johnsfolly 3 John

Was very cool to see what animals are around that we don't "see" them. Quillback, BilletHead, Greasy B and 1 other 4
