Maverickpro201 Posted July 31 Posted July 31 Yes I caught a darn 6 lb catfish one day on a SQ Bill. Darn thing went all the way thru the finger. Vietnam Vet buddy walks up and say I will help you, he said turn your head away and it won't hurt as much, he was going to cut the barb off and then pull it out. I listened. My buddy had needle nose pliers. He grabbed hold of the hook and ripped it out. Said now that didn't hurt did it. Last time I ever will ask him for help again. snagged in outlet 3 Posted July 31 Posted July 31 I think @jdmidwest had a double hookup on both hands?? I fish alone so much it's one of my biggest fears. All jerk baits get the barbs pinched. But I've resisted doing it to crank baits. I don't think it's changed my landing percentage by pinching them. My buddy laughed at me for the leather glove and long needle nose pliars. I just said, well you go ahead and reach in there to get your bait....😀 Daryk Campbell Sr 1

Last time I got stuck it was a treble on a top water. Dutch was with me that day, had him do the line trick and it came right out. Bled like crazy afterwards, but no pain. And that reminds me, make sure to have a first aid kit that has functional bandages. Those band-aids will dry out over time and are worthless once they dry out. Daryk Campbell Sr 1
DADAKOTA Posted July 31 Posted July 31 My Son stopped to fish on his way to work early this AM. He is into all the big glides, swimbaits, and topwaters. His 3rd cast he caught a 3.5 pounder which ended up burying one point of a big treble to the shank, in the back of his hand. It looked to be centered through the tendon behind his pointer finger. I have no idea how he managed to get the fish off the other treble with just his left hand. I was unwilling to risk damage to the tendon so off to the ER we went. Doc cut it off and pushed it through without a local. Had I known that I'd of done the braid trick or pushed it through myself. Daryk Campbell Sr 1
nomolites Posted July 31 Posted July 31 X2 and the locking pliers AND some clean lineman’s pliers(medical use only) as well as first aid supplies. I have lost more than one wrestling match with a big hybrid that ended with hook(s) buried in my flesh and I just don’t like it. Hasn’t happened since I acquired those pliers, they are great. Bill Babler Posted July 31 Author Posted July 31 I’ve done the line trick dozens of times on myself and clients, but you really have to watch it if there are tendons involved. Also, if you’re double hooked. It is really a risky procedure at best and should be used sparingly. Anything over a size 1 and your taking a chance. TJ Micro Jigs are the absolute worst as they will snap out of a trouts mouth and get anyone unlucky enough to be in the same time zone. snagged in outlet 3 1 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
snagged in outlet 3 Posted July 31 Posted July 31 Now you guys are making me paranoid!😁 I throw a crank every time I go fishing. I just love it when they are on the crank bite. Daryk Campbell Sr and Quillback 1 1
rps Posted July 31 Posted July 31 Many of you have read my story about how I stuck myself with a spook. After that I bought a boga grip and used long hemostats. Daryk Campbell Sr and Quillback 2

Whenever I catch a striper with a top water treble bait, I am VERY careful getting the hooks out of the fish. The thought of a 10 lb. fish attached to a treble hook that is attached to me gives me the willies. Dewayne French, Daryk Campbell Sr, nomolites and 1 other 4
snagged in outlet 3 Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Any of you guys try single point hooks on jerks or cranks?
