I've hated this project my entire life.

What's the trick used by people that can do it properly?

They look crystal clear when standing right there.....but once "done" and I stand off to the side a bit, there are streaks and smudges everywhere.   Even on the ones I did TWICE....and then a 3rd time !   🙄

If you smoke in the car/truck and want to clean that film off the windshield, you can use rubbing alcohol/isopropyl to cut it off pretty quick, just soak a paper towel and scrub and repeat, the do the vinegar spray on or wipe on with a clean rag and polish dry with the newspaper. Microfiber or some brands of paper towel might  work but I not had good results with either.

House? Inside or outside?

rubbing alcohol, warm to hot water and apply with a bar towel or something similar. Wipe down with coffee filters.  This is what we used in the restaurant that had mirrors from the booths to the ceiling and people were able to smoke in there. Man, that was sometime back! lol

There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!

Yes, and both.

The part that sucks the most is that when you stand off to the side you can't tell which side the streaks are on ...... So you gotta do both sides again.  They look crystal clear when looking straight through them.

Typically I would just admit to Sugarbritches that I suck at it.....so SHE would just take care of it.   But I've reached my limit on projects that I suck at, like doing dishes & folding laundry, so it's all on ME. 😅

For whatever reason I don't have this issue with the truck or Tahoe windows.  The tint probably hides it.

Just wait a while and when you get older with cataracts you won’t see the streaks.   My windows are fine.

Outside I use a bucket and squeegee.  I’ve never gotten em streak free on the inside.  Especially in winter when the light gets flat.

The hard brown paper towels that you sometimes see in public toilets work better than any soft towel, I think, The coffee filters sound like winner.
