Ranger Dave Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Any reports of catching white bass on the Spring River?
ollie Posted February 23 Posted February 23 It's getting close`, but nothing really going just yet. Heard one report of someone catching them up at the Seneca Piers, but that is all I have heard. To be honest, I'm not exactly sure where the piers are, but I think I do. Just not sure. ollie Posted March 2 Posted March 2 It won't be long now! Saw some reports of smaller males being caught this last week and with the rain they are getting in KS now and this week should push them up some providing the water temps hold. Bradford pear trees are starting to bloom around here so it won't be long until dogwoods bloom and the temps stay steady. It's not close to full blown yet, but getting closer and I'm itching to get out there and catch some! curtisce Posted March 2 Posted March 2 I was there last wednesday the 25th. Beautiful day no wind , some clouds. Put in at twin bridges. No dock still lots of debris on shore ahd bridge above. Neosho was muddy, Went up Spring , it started to clear by the steep bluff banks. 1ft viz. fished just above the floating house docks. Had a period in the morning whwere it was eveery cast for about 10 fish. then it slowed. Hooked a 35# paddlefish, got it in and unhooked. Layed it on the deck for a pic but it shook and went back in the drink. Went upstream to 10 bridge looked about the same as always with lots of gravel pied up behind the ramp. probably could get a lighter boat in but nothing that requires the boat to float off your trailer. few boats in the section below 10 no obvious action. Stopped just downstream from the shallow area above the houses. In the first deep part could see whites on LS. Again started catching them nearly every cast on crappie jigs. Most nice size a few dinks. Quit keeping them but fished on till around 1:30. Probably could have kept catching for some time but decided to head hom ollie, nomolites, Quillback and 3 others 6 The answer may not lie at the bottom of a glass, but you should always check

Quillback Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Yes thanks, have a buddy that lives in Neosho that wants to go, but it will have to wait until all this rain is gone. He drove past Twin Bridges the other day and said it looked like 50 rigs parked at the ramp. Popular fishery to say the least.
ollie Posted March 3 Posted March 3 I knew someone on here would be into them soon enough! Great report and thanks for sharing. Hopefully all those rigs in the lot at twin weren't cannibalized by the black vultures! ollie Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Yes, meth is a huge problem down this way and has been for some time now. I only carry because of them, otherwise I probably wouldn't when I go fishing. Knock on wood that my vehicle has escaped that so far. snagged in outlet 3 and Johnsfolly 1 1 "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
