I would imagine the guys at the top will use the scope to find fish for tomorrow. I think it would make for a better tournament to eliminate the scope for tomorrow.

Gill would struggle fishing traditionally for an entire tournament.  Fortunately he's fishing during the spawn and the wacky rig bite where he's at has been good(it's what kept him with the lead).  His live scope ability is top notch and has paid off tremendously both yesterday and today.

Seems like all the lakes around the region are fishing the same.  The bite is different from one area to the next.  You fish an area that looks great and get skunked.  You move up one pocket or creek and the bank doesn't look as good, but the fish are biting like crazy.  It's been that way on Beaver lake, and even Grand Lake(I just fished there last week.).

Good indicator that the fish are prespawn, spawn, and post spawn.  You just have to keep hammering away and you will come across them.

Regarding Drew Gill on day 1 scoping period in the CP area. Based on his writeup after day 1, he must have been targeting spawning SM.

During the opening period, Gill targeted “object-related smallmouth” with the Big Bite Baits Spotlight Minnow he designed. Doing so required a level of precision that illustrated why Gill is widely regarded as one of the best in the world with forward-facing sonar.

“Most of the fish I caught today doing that, I threw three to five casts at to catch,” he explained. “And those have to be in succession. So, you have to be dead-on with your cast, get them hot, and do that three to five times in a row to get them hot enough to catch them.”

On the first cast a feeding SM would have followed his bait back to the boat. He just operates on a different level.

I’m sure Wheeler started practicing but he cut it pretty darn close at the end. Hell of a top 10. For qualifying 1st Birge doesn’t sound to confident in where he is going tomorrow. Gill marked a bunch for tomorrow and I’m sure Wheeler did to. Should be interesting for sure.

I like him too Jeff. It would be a Massive win for him.

If Gill gets his FFS fish to bite I think he has the best  chance. He does way, way over analyze it. I hate to hear him talk about it.

I’m not counting out DC. His scope fish have  not bit but like Gill, after the scope period he has a solid tree pattern.  If his scope fish bite in the least,  number 4 is a possibility.
