Shep Hills hatchery did try cutts one time back in the day.. it last a minute.

We probably cannot afford to do something like Tiger trout .. imagine the cost to buy just the eggs ?

When I did work at the hatchery they had purchased some 4,000 eggs from out west and they only produced a few hundred fish after all the stages .. one day I left and there were 36 and the following day, there were only 8. The same day 6 died.. the next day - the indoor pen was moved so I am sure they were fish food.

It was kind of cool to walk into the spawn building everyday and see those fish... but they were too wild to be kept in a confined environment.

The day they had 8 .. those fish were swimming around in such a crazy way.. they would inadvertently bonk their heads in an effort to get out.

Just once I wish a trout would wink at me!

Wonder why Sheppard Hills had such bad luck with the cutthroats. Norfork Natl hatchery seems to do a good job with them. We always catch a few cuts each day on the Norfork and some are pretty big.

In searching for trout in other states I think PA has some areas where they stock these and have a stocking program.  Utah apparently does as well and Wisconsin discontinued there program in the 70's.  They are cool looking fish indeed and one on my list to catch. I think the record is a 20lber out of the great lakes, or so says wikipedia...

I thought that Wyoming had stocked tiger trout as well. Love to catch one like that photo. Would be a awesome catch. Also would love to catch some splake as well.

Great idea, put a voracious  fish eater in Taneycomo! Why not throw some real trophies like Muskies in while they're  at it!

Maybe they can put river otters in the small mouth streams too, Oh, they did!!!

Leave well enough alone.

Real men go propless!
