  1. Tough enough to breathe with out a busted nose. At least this didn't happen a couple month later when I would be starting my spring walleye fishing!
  2. What war, cats that wander often meet with accidents. I don't feel bad about it in the least, just management.
  3. I do owe an update. Still in hospital, however am improving slowly. I do get to eat actual food, oxygen levels are variable, a coughing fit will set off alarms. One if the treatments they cannot give me due to previous medical history. Breathing is better but any movement or exertion triggers coughing, drop in 02 and prompt attention from a nurse. Short version is it seems to be a tough road full of baby steps, but by golly I am a baby stepper from way back. Nurses are the light of the world I do believe. And I truly appreciate all prayers, thoughts, and even any pokes and harassment. You guys are awesome.

You fellers have no idea who dad gum delicious every pic you put up looks right now. I am easily amused here is my well every meal. Occasionally they will mix it up and instead of chicken bullion I will get a savory vegetable base, otherwise if it weren't for the lemon ice stuff I would be forced to live off of jello. And I love jello with fruit in it. I hate plain jello.
  5. Quick update of sorts. After a mere 21 hrs of time spent in ER and nearly passing out on them finally ended up in a exam room and very shortly thereafter admitted to a room. Observations so far. . . Dr's are good but Nurses are the light of the world,, they can be nice or terrifying all at the same time. Clear liquid diet sucks, get some rest is merely a warning that within a hour or less someone will be in to poke or prod you. Always be nice to the nurse, she can sneak you another lemon flavored ice thing.
  6. If ya ha e a minute to speak a word.to.big guy on my behalf. Currently trying sitting Mercy ER, well in the leper aka COVID positive section. Blood ox drops down in the low 80s at times. Haven't been able to eat or sleep for a couple days. And the chest xray shows pneumonia on both sides. Been here about 13 hrs so far. Appreciate an prayer you guys throw up I could use them.

    What's Cooking?

Seemed like a good evening to thaw out a backstrap provide by my wife a few weeks ago. Seasoned and given a few minutes on the Blackstone, wonderful sear and dead rare in the middle. Some fresh pulled turnips and I added some bush baked beans cause I like them. I wish everyone of you a blessed and happy Christmas eve and Christmas Day.
  8. U Oh crap now there is gonna be an ad with some guy in a thong blowing a goose call. Thanks for that. He'll I just scroll past, actually paused to look at a few today. Boring u less I need a new roof.
  9. Every dog I ever owned was a lap dog to some extent. German Shepards all thought they were, border collie figures she is too.
  10. That thing looks like a great way to dent a vehicle roof. I would much rather have a GOOD cot to throw in a good tent.
  11. Ah heck Phil, the ads make zero difference if I am on the site or not. Personally I would rather you take time and go crappie fishing or something.
  12. I absolutely swear that my phone listens and selects ads based on what it hears. A few weeks ago I made a comment about having trouble getting jeans that fit well because I no longer have a butt. My wife and I laughed about it. Within 24 hrs an add appeared for a company that makes belts for guys with no butts. And similar things have have happened often enough to convince me that my phone listens. Well jokes on them because I have a boring life.
  13. Dad gum it I hate when I just flat out agree with FW. But on this topic I do, I just ignore the ads and go on. Anyone who gets upset at what goggle or whomever attaches to your activity stream is playing a losing game.

I like the way you roll with lunch.
  16. If you are gonna be in places where such as that is likely you better be fully prepared to get the the heck of there, or be prepared to endure it. Out on the salt there ain't much to hide behind, on inland lakes there is usually a cove you can duck into and avoid the worst. Sat out a lot of thunderstorms tucked back in a cove when a kid on stockton, in a 14 ft richline. That guy saw it coming, I am a chicken I would have been headed for the nearest harbor at top speed.

    What's Cooking?

Biscuits and gravy are never a bad choice.
  18. Don't care abut all the other losts, but glad to know oneshot is OK. Heck come on back at least you kept it lively at times. Ignore the goobers whomever they are.
  19. Used to fish double jigs for whites and it wasn't uncommon to hook one on each jig. But this little story isn't about two fish at once it's about the same fish twice. Wade fishing a small creek with a buddy, throwing small rapalas. He made a cast to an under cut bank as we went upstream, hooked a decent smallmouth who broke him off. We fished on up and then back downstream, I got to the same under cut bank first made the same cast he did and pow had a decent little smallie. In his gullet was a crawfish which I removed and behind that was my buddies little rapala, that fish was hungry, maybe an hour at most between catches. Have occasionally caught two fish on a crankbait and yeah its a circus to get them unhooked.
  20. Well heck, I was there today, didnt buy anything except some coffee, could have made the pickup for ya. Way way way back when I worked there in college it was a common thing to go get stuff and stash it for a customer, of course sometimes the customer never showed up, but we just put it back on the shelf, no biggie.
  21. If you like spring greens don't be afraid to plant some radish, spinach, lettuce, mustard greens etc. I have had better stuff in the fall than the winter. Also if you like early stuff you could include a cold frame and start those greens in February. A wilted salad along with some walleye or crappie fillets and fried taters is a rednecks dream. I also used to plant a winter cover crop but have long since quit the big garden.

    What's Cooking?

Ok yu masters of the brisket, I need your advice. I am going to attempt my nemesis this weekend, a brisket. I have one from the last butchering, so it isn't a big fatty one from the store, will be smaller and leaner. So my paln, such as it is, is to brine it overnight in my regular brine and then out it on the smoker early on Sunday morning, sa by 0600 with the intent of having it ready by 5 pm. Is that long enough to go low and slow to reach that magic temp of 203? And at what temp should I run the smoker? It is an electric smoker so easy to operate at whatever temp I want, but doesn't give a heavy smoke, which is why my brine has a heavy dose of liquid smoke it it. Brine is 1 cup of salt, one quarter cup sugar a big dose of liquid smoke and whatever else I happen to find lying around. Already have hime made bbq sauce and plenty of rub to apply. Do I need to spray it occasionally? Bag it after x number of hours? I say it is my nemesis because I have had them come out dry, medium rare and tough, and about every thing in between, the only "good" one I made involved slicing it up and putting it in a crock pot for a few hours, but I would just once like to have one right off the smoker that I liked.
  24. I get some chick in a bikini, but I don't mind. No clue what she is selling though.
  25. Wow everyone is getting weird. Go USA.
