  1. Well dang, ONLY 198 5/8. Hardly worth scoring. πŸ˜‚ That is still a beast of a deer.

    What's Cooking?

Had a loaf of freshould bread ready for the oven when I heard a shot, my wife's rifle is very recognizable. Her 3rd deer down. Made her wait until the bread was finished before I took tractor down to retrieve her and the deer, little 4pt. Gonna be tasty. Supper was a couple of some kind of fish fillets that we had bought, think they were Swai or something. Wish I had been smart enough to put some walleye or crappie fillets on a cookie sheet to freeze and vac pack them individually so I don't have to eat them Swai things. Tasty though.
  3. Not sure but would take a big fish bowl to put him in, and a LOT of them little shakers of fish food to keep him.
  4. Sure does appear to be a tilapia.
  5. So more little carp. Isn't that what we wanted to make the bass grow faster and bigger. So we kill more and more big carp (bowfishermen and giggers), then they reproduce faster making more highly nutritious forage for bass and catfish. I say that's a double win.
  6. Wow, that's a whopper in anybody's book.
  7. There are rimes when a float and light jig are the deadliest crappie bait ever. Depth control for finicky spawning crappie for examole, other times they want it moving. I live for the tap or line twitch but if it requires a float or is too windy to control a light jig, out comes the float.
  8. I think a caravan of dedicated bowfishermen headed to Honduras to wipe out their invasive carp would be a nice touch.
  9. Wife deflated a nice 8 on opening morning, then a nice spike Sunday evening. Gutted it and got it checked at CWD station, decided to let it hang from tractor bucket until Monday A.M., so I got to skin and quarter it while watching it snow. I went down to wifes stand sat evening, and saw a nice younger 8, but didn't shoot him. Came home from wor this evening and saw a deer out in front of house, which quickly became a doe, with a very very nice 8 pt dogging her, and a smaller 4 or 6 I guess watching to learn the ropes and a 4th deer I couldn't get a good look at. Opted not to execute any of them. On the down side I have read of 3 separate fatal hunting accidents in MO over the weekend and one in AR, bad stuff, be careful out there.
  10. Dang it, Honduras now that is a worrisome thing right there.
  11. I have a small utility trailer that gets loaned out a lot. Seems like I spend more time working on the lights, stand, woring, re-weldling the flooring etc. Than I do using it.
  12. I think I will NOT hold my breath for a Bowfishing ban on any major waters of the state.
  13. I have a rough enough time just counting 15 when crappie fishing. Have come home a few times with 16 or 14. I do anymore when I think I am at about 12 stop and count. Funny how often that throws me off my game though and it may be a while before I catch another fish. I certainly don't mind other folks who count them all just not my thing. I don't like a feeling of unease when an agent counts/measures them for me, I do like to know what is in my deathwell.
  14. Hmm, for me it was almost opposite. No argument the spawn happened fast and the quick change to hot weather put an end to my fishing. Summertime I don't fish during hot season anymore, cant take it. But while it lasted the spawn bite was incredible, fall bite for me was almost as good. Winter will be good to for the ones who brave it. I will say the walleye fishing for me was almost a bust though. Except for walleye my fishing is mostly on Pomme.
  15. The crappie I was catching on Pomme (until the time changed) were not particular in the least about color, and some hit hard and some yiu didn't even see the line tic, just stopped dropping too soon. The whites were more choosy about color/bait than the crappie were.
  16. The least accurate way to get information from any agency is to simply ask somebody who is wearing the uniform. Most of them simply don't wok with the enforcement side of the huse and will give your their opinion, not fact. Asking the right person or group is paramount to getting correct information. I cannot count the number of times I have seen bogus information given out.

Well I never cared for Corona, think Pekinise should be used to lure in coyotes, never had a chance to date a midget. I would however have a little concern, that they might not rise to my standards and I would have to cut the dat ahort.

LOL, who am I to judge, I used to drink Beast Lite (Milwaukee Best Lite). I learned long ago to never seriously judge a man on his choice of women, beer, or dogs. However doing it in fun, fair game.
  19. Heck if knew anything about trout fishing I might go. Don't think I have even tried to catch a trout since I left the Branson/Forsyth area over a quarter century ago. But gotta wait for wife to get rest of deer killing fever burned off.

    What's Cooking?

Well as expected cinnamon rolls had to be set aside for a bit. Had to punch the dough down while I retrieved a deer. Now to the obligatory cwd check station and back home. I will say that dough smells amazingly good, setting covered near the stove, making me wish I had made a second batch of dough for a loaf of bread. Fortunately the rolls are back on track now and really to roll, rise and bake. Somehow over the last 20 years our roles have reversed during seer season. Well except for having to retrieve, gut, skin, and process the deer.😊

    What's Cooking?

Wife said, they are ooey gooey and delicious. Will make a fresh batch tomorrow to go with chili. Homemade cinnamon rolls have a short shelf life at least around here they do.
