  1. Nice, them musky usually end up taking a pic of my lure at their home instead of me getting them in the boat.
  2. As established by the SCOTUS each state has the authority to place reasonable restrictions upon fire arm ownership, including bans on various groups of firearms. Most state legislatures know that is political suicide. Besides I have many things that are not the "best" for most applications so what. It is a quagmire that will not be solved anytime soon.
  3. By the letter of the law I believe cleaning fishould ajacent to the shoreline is illegal, however I have never known it to be enforced on anyone who is not currently still fishing. So if you are all loaded up, rods put away and cleaning fish I would be more than willing to take my chances, but be still fishing and filleting fish yeah you stand a good chance of getting a ticket.
  4. Places like Omme, LOZ and Truman give up huge numbers of crappie, sizes vary depending upon age class etc, but can be plenty large too. 9 inch limits, why worry about it. Keep whatever legal size you prefer. Fried uo you will never know the difference.
  5. Those type of people are certainly not limited to lakes or even fishing in general. You can find them at Wal Mart, the gas station and at a resturant. The key is never let a person like that ruin YOUR good time.
  6. That's why I like living where I do, a stroll after dark not to the pool for a naked swim and nobody knows. Well maybe all you now know but that's it.
  7. I see sunburn in your future.
  8. Lots of folks around the Midwest refer to various sunfish family members as "perch", which many us know is not quite correct. Of course what we refer to as "bass" are not true bass either, they are members of the sunfish family along with bluegill, longears, crappie etc. Perch family includes walleye and yellow perch. We all pretty much know what is being talked about when someone talks abut perch, except fir the occasional yankee. Now having grown up catching tons of bluegill and "black perch" green sunfish I often still call them perch, of course I often call walleye "jack salmon" too, why? Well why not, referring to them that way brings back memories of fishing with my father in the "old days".
  9. Nice, I have heard them things are edible, if prepared properly.
  10. darn, I though I fixed that, oh well my stomach will be making attacks on it later this summer. Plants looking much better when I came home from work. Looks like I lost one squash plant.
  11. Stomach came through here about daylight and beat the snot out of what little I had. Hopefully it will straighten up
  12. Sounds like a side job for gas money to me.
  13. People who are normal thinking individuals go to the lake and bring everything but their common sense. I have talked to a lot of them over the years and explained why what they were doing was dangerous and bordering on stupid / criminal. It's like a light switch goes on in their brain sometimes and they suddenly realize what they have done. Sadly some people lack that switch.
  14. One out of 3 keepers, not too bad on Pome this year. How was boat traffic?
  15. Best to me are bluegill, crappie, walleye, and suckers, and flathead belly meat. Order depends on my mood at the time. Worst, spoonbill, trout.
  16. Mine all fell out a few years ago, when it grew back there were no more dark hairs. I never complain about my hair, except when it get more than about 1.5 inches long, then I get it buzzed again. Hair is dang hot.
  17. Pomme can be a bit different. Sometimes is feast sometimes famine.
  18. Nice ones!
  19. Most of the ramps here at Pomme have concrete lane dividers on them. A leftover from times when they thought people could back trailers. It is good in a way but terrible for anyone who lacks good trailer backing skills. And them.short trailers just make it worse. Boats on the ramp, sunk vehicles, trying to launch with transom ties still on, yiu name it. Some are sad some are just funny. Most of the launch ramps here already are growing that green slimy, slicker than snot algae on them. Makes for a risky launch, when the wheels start to spin sometimes they just mash the accelerator and go sliding in, or jump off the boat and bust their butts.
  20. That sucks John, I cannot even imagine hitting a bison. A few years ago, about the time I was diagnosed I hit a deer on the way to work, well actually the mini van in the other lane hit it, drove it forward and over into the front left corner of my truck. So to be neighborly I hit it hard enough to bounce it off the side of her van. When all was said and done I drove my F150 for another month before it could get into the shop for about $5K worth of work. Deer hit hard enough that there was deer hair in between the tire bead and the rim of the time. Other than carrying that headlight in the bed and tying up a few flapping pieces with wire it still drove fine. Deer are a daily hazard around here.
  21. The time for boat launching as a spectator sport is upon us.. Find a shady spot near a busy launch ramp, bring a cooler and comfy chair and just enjoy.
  22. Not uncommon for an injured snake to bite blindly even biting themselves. Dobut if his own venom would kill him, but being run over certainly would. Very cool.
  23. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mock_strawberry. I did a quick search and found the mock strawberry. I can't see the berries well enough in your pic to tell. Shouldn't be any cross breeding as they are different genus. My strawberries this year were smaller and ripened earlier than usual. I think the fast change from spring to summer cut short their growth and caused the to ripen early. Several years ago I decided to cultivate wild strawberries I found in my pasture. They went freaking nuts, growing huge but not making fruit. Finally had to pull and spray them to get rid of them.
  24. There is some sort of fake wild strawberry looking plant that is very common in yards etc. The "berries" are tiny even compared to actual wild berries and have no taste what so ever.
  25. Don't be afraid to switch it up if your chosen quarry isn't cooperating. Sounds like bass are tearing it up abut now.
