  1. Gumboot, what plugs did you put in? My Yama ha has the originals in it and has always been cold natured. Once started and run a little it is easy starting. Kind of like my Honda 4 wheeler!
  2. Always seems like when you find the whites there are hybrids mixed in. Always fun to be catching whites and set the hook and suddenly yu have a screaming drag headed for open water. Buddy says "what have you got"? Don't know but if I can turn him we might find out.
  3. Hope you get to put a thumping on that thing.
  4. Otters sound like people at wal mart.
  5. Several bad decisions to go ahead and snag a gar have been made by me. Watched a guy at LOZ playing a huge gar on a crappie rod from a dock, he was still playing it when we left that spot.
  6. I have been much unimpressed with most solar lights. They do have a life span, if it us rated at 10k hours that is what 3 years or so depending on how many yours a night it runs. Ones that just come on when a motion is triggered have multiple way to go bad, motion sensor, photovoltaic cell, batteries and the LED itself. I like simple, and figure if something is in my yard at night, it is fine as long as it doesn't bother anything, of course the yard retard dog is too old to bark, or even hear them anymore if they were there. Soon will have to break in a new stray for yard duty. Until then if there is a commotion loud enough to wake me up, the light on my AR lights things up nicely.
  7. Dang, how deep would they have to go to get away from the ads. Lucky fish.
  8. Big fish are older, thus they are wearing masks so they don't cath covid, can't bite with a mask on.
  9. It happens. I have also on occasion had a guy with a kid ease up to taking distance and ask what we were doing different as he could get bit. Pull right on up beside me and throw something shiny over there you will have a white bass momentarily. Usually it is more like what you describe though. I have been known to start up the big motor and leave as noisily as possible too.
  10. The leaves are a bit of an annoyance for sure fishing creeks. If it is calm I can't catch a cold fishing.
  11. I did a shitake log one year, got 3 off of it, dang tasty though.
  12. The .22 LR shortage passet and this will too. The buy it cheap and stake k deep.is a good philosophy in these times. For me it's Primers which I am.OK on and bullets and powder which I am.good on. I reduced my variety of ca liber so I can have more ammo or ammo components. Realistically I have way more than I need but it won't spoil.
  13. Cancer free, whether truly free or just remission is a GOOD thing.
  14. I was extremely lucky, after dad passed in 93 mom was able to live on her own and kept working for many years. It helped that she lived upstairs in an apartment in our house, built for that purpose. Finally about 2016 she began having issues with dementia and it kept getting g worse to the point we had to move her downstairs with us, but she could still stay by herself. Finally after a neighbit found her on the grouND out at the mailbox we quietly made sure someone was always home with her. In the end she was on hospice for over a year. Let me say that the hospice folks are AWESOME, eventually she quit eating and drinking and was comatose. Sister and family all were able to come visit, (she didn't know) and a week later at end of May she passed, with never a single COVID 19 symptom. It was a long road that was hard on us, and our marriage but am glad we were able to go that route.
  15. The benefit of being a hillbilly who reloads is I am.never out of ammo. If I do run out the end has already been written for me. By the time any roams bands of ANTIFA or whatever make it to my house their numbers are gonna be dwindling rapidly.

    What's Cooking?

Stopped at a small store on the way home and walked out with a little 10# plus boneless pork loin that I am unsure what I will do with, and a bag of 10.count shrimp and bundle of asparagus. Butter, garlic and some cajun seasoning for the shrimp and a quick run through a skillet for the asparagus, quick easy and dad gum delicious.

    What's Cooking?

Tonight, grilled crappie, fried taters, some sort of new version of bis uit my wife is making and some broccoli. Butter swim biscuits, they are a whole different texture and absolutely delicious.
  18. 1100s were notorious for turning into single shots if dirty, or not properly lubed etc. Many competition shooters used to spray the tube down with.lubricant before a mat h and run them wet. I had a little 100 special field that was great until I quit cleaning it, then a quick cleaning and good again.
  19. How a boat works can be fairly easily taught, high degree of skill and more importantly knowing when to do things takes experience. And even thn things can go to crap on a short period of time. The faster you are moving the faster things go to crap. There are many locations on every lake that when a combination of factors happen it can go from "hey that guy cut across in front of me" to a close call to tragedy and the difference is seconds. It is a tragedy for sure that two people lost that their lives, and the driver of that heir he other boat will never be the same. I have seen and worked too accidents where everything g was fine until suddenly it wasnt, a boat rounds a blind point at the same time you do both cutting it short, a person swimming way too far from land nearing dark, a blacked out boat sitting out on the lake at night, a log that floated into a normally clear lane, the list we as boat drivers have to do out best, and sometime the best of us make mistakes or crap simply happens.
  20. Wish you was closer, though I really don't know what my 11-87 is worth.
  21. My father used to feed the fish in the little pond we have. He would ride the mower over to it. They learned quickly and the water would be boiling before he ever got close enough to throw the feed. For a couple years after he passed away fish would come to the surface every time I mowed around the pond. If I were going to chum a spot on a lake I would buy sinking feed, and bait the spot, go get a burger and come back about dark. Corn will certainly bring in carp if done over a period of time as well.
  22. My Rem 11-87 will happily eat light or heavy loads. Shot it a lot at doves and pbeasants.
  23. Nice, I think flatheads are good looking.

    What's Cooking?

My mom made apple pie by memory for so many years, that my wife said she would never make one as it wouldn't be the same. Mom passed away at end of May this year so my wife has taken it upon herself to begin making Apple Pie occasionally. Completely different kind of Apple Pie, and though different they are delicious, I would think my mom would have been proud of her.
  25. Right before the holiday weekend there was a wake boat out in front of the dam. Holy crap what a wake. Old timers used to always say when shad are super thick feed them a craw. No shortage of otters around.
