  1. Excellent fishing report, the forum always welcomes the contributions of new members.
  2. Great fish Pete, way to go.
  3. We’ve had some very good fishing floating from Bennett’s peak campground to treasure island but the water is super skinny in the fall. The stretch downstream from Saratoga has much more reliable water levels. If you don’t hire a guide will need the upper north Platte floaters map from the WGFD. Study it closely, you will find very little public land and accessable wading water below the National forest at Bennett. Take the trespassing warnings serious, the land owners are extremely hostile towards anyone touching their rocks. If the wind blows your boat to shore or if you put a foot down to steady a pontoon boat you will likely have someone screaming at you while speed dialing the sheriff. That said it’s one the longest freestone trout rivers in the west, a beautiful place with lots of wild trout.
  4. Last weekend I watched a joy rider run the Meramec with a big jet, 200 HP or so. It didn’t appear the gentlemen made any attempt to read the river or select a path based on conditions, he simply ran straight down the middle and throttled up when he encountered shallow water. Judging from the chocolate water and the rocks shooting from the wake his boot and impeller got a good shine. We ran up the river in our 21ft glass river jon, 450lbs of fishermen, ~300lbs of gear and camping luxury powered by a 20HP jet and never ate a rock. You definitely don’t need big power as much as you need your eyes and a little sense.
  5. From what I’ve heard it’s a fine motor. You and I are probably better off buying from a reputable dealer. Good luck.
  6. By.... a huge corporation that harvest all my daily activities, communications and thoughts then sells who I am to the highest bidder.
  7. Do you think that our new friend skitch is a bot? I took the bait, been thinking about that motor, lately I'm a sucker for all things Tohatsu. I even clicked on the link, I wonder if i got a bug? Maybe my phone his been taken over by....... Should we hijack the thread and talk about what loathsome creatures Carp are?
  8. I vote for less people. Welcome Nick.
  9. That's not right.
  10. Good lord, Why do they think a river needs to be fixed? Oh I guess it’s not a river at all but an amusement park.
  11. Pucker time on the nade, Sorry for the hijack, 662 is much more interesting.
  12. Awesome fish. That island has been a favorite for a long time, we would run up from the ramp at Buffalo City and make that our first stop as we floated back down.
  13. Nice fish. It would break my heart and flip my world view on its head if fish that pretty are fresh from the hatchery. With lots of water, lots of food and an astonishing growth rate I always figured it took a couple of months to go from pellet pale to rainbow brilliant.
  14. How big is your deck?
  15. Yikes! Well that explains a lot…. Back in the day a shore lunch of Mineral Fork Longears was part of the routine. Last weekend the Longears were nipping at my Whopper Plopper hooks. I only stuck this first fish, I’m thinking it’s a Green/Longear hybrid? The second is a hybrid, Longear/Bluegill? It was caught in southern Illinois. Identifying hybrid sunfish is wonderfully confusing.
  16. . Ness has spoken. Y'all best heed his advise, I have good information that he can shoot fire from his fingers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZJZK6rzjns&list=RDaZJZK6rzjns&index=1
  17. Yeah, in northwest Arkansas the stench of curing resin is as common as the stench of cow dung and chicken crap in the rest of the Ozarks.
  18. Beautiful fish Seth, thanks for the video. Good luck Pete.
  19. A glass boat on Gasconade River.
  20. That was a great fish. I’ll be at the boat ramp in an hour, I’ll see if I can get a Longear picture.
  21. Yeah the block feature is great because I have no idea what you all are talking about. I do notice all the good will that has resulted.
  22. A mess of 6” Longears make a fine shore lunch.
  23. I can’t offer any advice other than show up early, empty your bladder and claim a spot. Don’t forget to stop by Abe’s hotel, fly shop and restaurant.
  24. A Reelfoot specimen,
  25. As a Gasconade, Meramec guy with a glass boat I agree, you could go on and on about the advantages and disadvantages of each type of boat but both are perfectly suited for any navigable Ozark River. I don't have my boat set up with oars because i'd up being the rowing guy.
