That's good shootin'!

"Somebody oughta do something." is the rallying cry of the modern day citizen. Of course, realistically, it's probably not all that new of a phenomena at all. It does seem that the non-doers are beginning to outnumber the doers by a larger margin than in bygone days though. Git 'er dunn!

The burger joint must be partially dependent upon federal funding and the burger flippers are apparently non-mission essential so there you go.........
-
Well, "that" part ain't shut down - just the part that notifies the other part! A call to the district office might help. It's worth a shot anyways.
-
Bingo. I love listening to Mulvaney - he gets right to the point.

I agree. I always kind of took it personally when I was deemed "non-essetinal." Like, so what am I doing here anyways then? Over the years, I occupied jobs in both classifications and eventually came to terms with the emotional trauma of being a "non". My earlier years as a non-essential employee were my favorite cause when the shutdowns came, as soon as I was done signing my paperwork I was off to either Stockton or Table Rock! And I was always prepared too - if a shutdown was even remotely possible, I had a bag packed and the boat ready to roll and I would fish until they either approved a budget or passed yet another continuing resolution. It was kind of funny a couple of times cause there'd be all these bleeding heart types that were in tears about being "let go." Whereas I had the boat hooked up and sitting outside the office in the parking lot. I mean, after all, no matter how Washington chooses to paint it, it's always just a paper drill and everybody gets back pay for not working so who cares? Then I got old and was more involved and that flat took all the fun out of shutdowns! It's too bad when common folk have to suffer even a little bit cause of this silliness but, as you know, in most shutdowns the impact is minimal and they never last very long primarily because Congress would rather take an alley whupin' then have to work on a weekend. This one just amazes me in that the entire argument is over a bunch of non-Americans that shouldn't be here in the first place but what do I know? Good for you on the tee time! I have an 1130 but everybody's kind of waffling on playing now because it's too "muddy". Good Lord, what do they expect in the middle of January? Sunny and 80? Hit 'em good!

Not to get all political on this deal but the last shutdown was only as severe as it was because Obama wanted to prove a point and make the Republicans look as bad as he could so they boarded up and locked down everything that they could and then said, "It's their fault". According to Mick Mulvaney, that will not be the case this time and they are attempting to minimize the effects of the shutdown on us "normal" people and are funding all services that they possibly can. Of course, and in fairness, that is mostly because this time, the Republicans want to do everything they can to prove a point and make the Democrats look as bad as they can. For those who might not remember, this is the eighteenth government shutdown since 1972 so it ain't like this is something all that unusual. As someone who was pretty involved on numerous occasions in facility and installation readiness and preparing for many of these "events", I can tell you that the man hours and expense that go into the mere anticipation of a shutdown is mind boggling. And it costs just as much to prepare for the shutdown that doesn't happen as for the one that actually does and it has been taking place worldwide each and every time they've kicked this can down the road for the last five months. Waste, fraud and abuse has many faces and definitions in our good 'ol federal government I'm sorry to say. But regardless, please don't hate on the little people such as the local COE folks. They're just doing what they're told and have zero say in the matter.

Ahhhhh. So you're one of those guys that believes that we actually went to the moon with that old technology, huh? Best be careful with that notion else wise Champ's black van will be parked outside your house! Just kidding. I really wish my dad had lived long enough to experience some of the more modern tech. He was reading about "future tech" and computer stuff in Popular Science magazine back in the 70's and 80's and it's all he ever talked about. Completely fascinated. Unfortunately, about the closest he got to it was a Commodore 64!

Looks like a typical day on LOZ.

Ain't it gonna be a little warm out there for you two? Be sure and drink lots of water and don't forget your sunscreen.

When I was a kid (early 1800's) I used to think that astronauts were the most amazing people on the planet primarily because what they did was so beyond the realm of things that I could comprehend. Then YOU guys came around and all of a sudden lunar landings didn't seem like all that big a deal at all anymore! But, as momma always said, "Stupid is as stupid does." Now if you guys can just get Bill Babler back to operating with full comms, I'll REALLY be impressed!

I hope you realize that that kind of talk is extremely "divisive". As in it divides morons like me from you and anybody else that can understand whatever it was that you just said!

Yes I did and I still can't believe they won that game. It was the first time since we played Kentucky in the national championship game have I sat down to watch a game expecting to lose and after the first ten minutes, I was just hoping we didn't get anybody hurt. Although KU played some really good defense in the second half and hit some timely threes at the end, West Virginia just choked like dogs. At about the 8 minute mark my brother and I both figured KU would get it down to 4 or 5 but then WV would hit a couple of threes, we'd make a turnover and they'd score again and it would get back to 10 or 12 and that would be that. But WV just kept taking terrible shots and turning it over and then it was pretty evident that panic set in. Great win though and a lot of times those ugly wins have been the difference when it comes to winning all those conference championships. If Preston isn't cleared to play though I think the conference is about all they're playing for this year. Graham just ain't a point guard and neither is anybody else on this particular team. Us KU fans are so spoiled it's ridiculous. K-State upsetting OU last night was kind of the icing on the cake for those of us that think the phrase Rock Chalk makes perfect sense! Sorry for the longazz response to a "yes" or "no" question but I already admitted we're spoiled!

As interesting (and fascinating) as that might have been, I'm not interested in any "true" facts. I'm getting all the horse knowledge I could ever want right here. These are the smartest guys I ever heard of! I gotta say though, the farting fire part was pretty cool though........ Surprised it wasn't mentioned here.

Now y'all are just being plain silly. I'm pretty sure those pics are photoshopped. Somehow.

News Flash - Shoes / Boots and Fishing Gear
vernon replied to crazy4fishin's topic in Table Rock Lake
It's probably simply a byproduct of never having been married until I was 48 but we've always had three bank accounts - hers, mine and ours. Hers and mine are just that and "ours" is what we pay equally into to cover house payments, utilities and all other common household expenses. She makes her own car payment and I pay for the Tahoe, Ranger and annual golf dues. Now, I would LOVE to report that this arrangement enables me to buy whatever I want, whenever I want without question or criticism since, after all, it is MY money - right? Unfortunately, that is NOT exactly the case and I just as well be on a weekly allowance like most kept men. For example, last weekend I had the audacity to splurge on a new chain for my chainsaw. The ensuing interrogation, investigation and kangaroo trial clearly illustrated that it would have been wiser and much more pleasant had I chosen to just chew the firewood rather than utilizing that blasted chainsaw. The good news is that since I retired she makes about three times as much as I do so I'm hoping there's going to be an upside to that aspect of our financial future at some point that will make this all a bit more palatable but that ain't no lead pipe cinch neither! And CF4, as for you, you're lucky to be alive............... -
I've done both Tackle Warehouse and the NuTech website and I can't even remember now which was which. I think TW was occasionally out of a few particular sizes/colors from time to time whereas it seemed the NuTech site always had everything in stock. There might have been a slight difference in price but not enough to sway me one way or another and, in fact, it might have actually just been a few cents one way or another for shipping. Haven't tried the Grass Jig yet but will be ordering some up within the next couple of weeks to put to use this year!
-
I completely agree. And I NEVER agree with anything this guy has to say! I had most of my stuff stolen out of the boat four years ago and when I was replacing jigs I bought a bunch of Bo's to try and I liked them so much that I never got around to buying any other kind. They are now literally the only brand of jigs in my boat. I have different styles, sizes and colors, some skirted and some naked but they're all NuTech. The only problem is it still seems like I have way too many jigs in the boat as I very seldom lose one! These babies are as advertised!

Sorry to see you leave the game but good for you for sticking up for you principles. As Clint so eloquently stated, "A man has to know his limitations." I'd love to see you come back but if those are the things that drove you away in the first place, forget it. It gets worse and worse every year. It's more like going to the carnival these days than going to the golf course. "Growing the game" and all that sorta crap. The problem is, most of the "new" players that they're trying to attract bring about as much to the game of golf that illegal immigration brings to the economy. Man, it's cold outside..............

Again, whatever you say Don Corleone. Take it from somebody that lives on the south side of the "neighborhood", you do NOT want to pizz this guy off!

Whatever you say Don Corleone!

Does he sell acid washed jeans on the side too? That sounds like nasty work!

Well, it ain't an industry that's got me on pins and needles waiting for the next big thing but competition is always good and a better deal for the consumer is as well so that's good news from that perspective. If I wasn't such an old school, fuddy-duddy golf snob I'd probably enjoy it a lot more but I is what I is I guess. I've never cared for what I always referred to as "goofy golf" and Top Golf is kind of the modern-day high tech version of just that. Whenever somebody has invited me to play in charity scramble type event I always ask if we're gonna actually hit "real" golf shots or if I'm gonna have to play a hole left-handed or tee off standing in an inner tube or hit a shot with a baseball bat cause, if so, no thanks. And I'm the guy that just called Mitchf an "elitist"? No wonder nobody likes me.....
