  1. I don't know if any of you remember it or not but the late, great Burt Mustin said that the key to catching fish in the cold was, "You gotta keep your worms warm!" If you never saw him tell that little story on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson (back when late night TV was worth staying up for) you missed a great storyteller telling a great story. I tried to find it on youtube but no luck. Good stuff.
  2. I've been to the one in Kansas City four or five times and, to me, the best part is the food. They've got a shockingly eclectic menu and everything that I've had has been really good. Of course what I think of as good food would probably gag most normal people so there's that. We've gone in the evening with the wives a couple of times and have always had a good time and we've gone a time or two on a weekday afternoon in the winter to "practice" but it's golf "light" at best. In fact, the "practice" visits were more a matter of getting in a few swings before our trip to Palm Springs and not really all that beneficial from a golf perspective but, heck, it's cold outside, the bays are heated and there's nothing else to do so why not? I've taken my own stuff whenever I've gone cause the clubs that they have on hand deserve to be launched off of the upper deck but the average customer could probably not care less. Not a lot of future Tour players that frequent the joint although George Brett, Jan Stenerud, Freddie Patek and an assortment of other past and present Royals and Chiefs players always seem to be there hitting balls and acting important. It's entertaining I guess but the prices are a little ridiculous considering the quality of the golf experience. With food and a couple of beers the price for a couple can approach a hundred bucks for anything over an hour pretty quick and an hour goes by really fast. Danged place is always packed though and a one to two hour wait on weekends is pretty normal so they're doing something right I guess. Heck, they even have golf LEAGUES throughout the year so in that regard it's kind of like bowling outdoors with better food that's a lot more expensive but without the cool silk shirts. And as Champ will tell you, anything that you do without a jersey ain't really worth doing in the first place! I'm sure all the Chesterfielder's will love it!
  3. Ahh. An elitist! And I bet you wear $500 synthetic alligator shoes with non-approved METAL spikes! Oh yeah, I can spot your kind a 100 miles away.............
  4. Would you just mind your own beeswax MISTER? I'm trying to find a HOME here and you're dragging irrelevant validation minutiae into the process! Geez, a guy can't even try to improve his place in life anymore......
  5. Is he looking to adopt? I'm housebroken.
  6. So long as the temperature breaks 80 everyday I'm good no matter what! That's one amazing place in February. Kind of the golf equivalent to Table Rock in April!
  7. And I just hate that! And you. And your horse........ And those stupid flourescent jawbreaker/gumball looking golf balls.
  8. "The Godfather of the Ned Rig" is the complete title and if these guys ever saw you or your hitmen roaming the aisles and parking lot at Cabela's they''d know why! A friendly tip to all of you other guys - he tends to travel a bit more incognito when down south but just wait until he establishes a new neighborhood - certain to be somewhere near the Kimberling bridge and Schooner Creek. Then you'll understand. In fact, I'm pretty sure all of this "coaching" stuff is actually a recruitment tactic intended to expand the "family". Always looking ahead. Good to know you're still alive! Shoulder back intact I hope?
  9. Palm Springs 9 February baby! But not nearly soon enough to answer your question! I think that's why I love fishing and golf - woods, weeds and water are such integral aspects of both!
  10. I feel as though I just stumbled upon a thread that is composed completely in Arabic only with familiar looking characters......... Best of luck to you Martians however.
  11. That's a figure of speech used only to make a point - right?
  12. I hate them all because none of them work as good for me as they do for everybody else. And I hate all of the people that use all of that stuff to catch more fish than me which is almost everybody including my wife. And especially showoffs like Bo, Babler, dtrs5kprs, Champ and most of the rest of you guys..... Man, winter is hard this year!
  13. Speaking of "Ned" I would put the little collection acquired by dtrs5kprs, aka, "The Godfather" up against most. He has more peg boards than most people with pegboards have packages of lures to display! In fact, I'm pretty sure that he has pegboards for some of his pegboards. Speaking of which, where has that boy been? Youth football's been over for about six years now and I still ain't seen nor heard hide nor hair of him. The forum seems a little lean for this time of the year without him and the elusive Mr. Babler.
  14. Thirty years ago and prior it was pretty much anything goes - including me. Twenty years ago, 20 and above was OK. Ten years ago, below 30 was pretty much out but with a few exceptions. Now that I'm ticklin' 65 years old , I'll still do 30's (with sufficient encouragement) but only if the boat's in a slip so I can easily come back in to warm up whenever I want and, more importantly, I don't have to load the boat and drive anywhere. I'm with Dan on that driving stuff. Now, if I had me one of those big 'ol heated drive thru Morton buildings in my backyard to park the boat in when I got home it might be a little bit different. But that getting back out in the cold AGAIN and messing with putting everything away has become a present day showstopper for this old boy.
  15. Seriously. I don't see 'um either. How can you drum fish?
  16. The "real" Deep State!
  17. I see 'um both - love the blue!
  18. Cheese, those are some fine fish, excellent poses and your camera ready smile is showing definite improvement! However, it takes guts to hold one of those crazy spots that close to ones face with three sets of trebles smiling back at you!
  19. Good shootin'!
  20. Unless you're buzz bait or crank bait fishing I guess. You might set yourself on fire! Champ would be sure to go up in smoke.........
  21. Never fished an A-rig in my life and seein's how now I'm too old to even lift one much less fling it I guess I never will. So on my death bed I'm gonna say that I lived a "pure" life! So I got that workin' for me. Which is nice.
  22. What you said.
  23. Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding...........
  24. Now I really have seen it all! As George Carlin used to say, "If you nail two boards together, somebody will buy it. In fact, people will line up to buy a left nostril inhaler."
  25. Kind of a weird name but, then, I'm not too sure what I was expecting. Don't know about the Legend rumor. It was my understanding that they were going it alone with a brand new factory and approach from the very beginning. In fact, the new state of the art factory was part of the announcement and if they're gonna have models ready to display in time for the Classic it must be pretty much a done deal and pretty much fully operational. Wonder how Johnny felt about them hosting the announcement next door to his Ranger plant? Might have been a not so thinly veiled attempt to give him a little poke in the eye? Bottom line, more competition can't be bad for us consumers and they certainly have a great amount of credibility in the business. Flippin's gonna have to build more houses and infrastructure to accommodate Bass Boat City USA!
