  1. My transducer on the ultrex is a Mega. I know they have on that is universal. Not sure mine will adapt. what is your transducer @TRRANGER? it would be great if it did because I mounted the Garmin tranducer on the minnkota transducer. Here's a picture of my tranducer.
  2. I am making the switch from Humminbird to garmin for my graphs. BS had to 106sv for under $1000. so I got 2 10" units. Humminbird would have been $1500 to replace my one console 9".Haven't had the best of luck in regards to reliability with Humminbird. I have sent units in 3 times. Anyway now I have an Ultrex with a buitin Mega transducer and I need to mount a Garmin tranducer. I have both a GT56uhd and a GT54uhd tranducer. I bought a 93sv for a livescope. Looks like there is going to be a pproble with mounting it. I haven't looked at it closely I'm still working on the console unit but just wondered if anyone has experience with this.

    What's Cooking?

Duck Confit Pulled out the last of the duck legs from the freezer,28 in all. Packed in salt /sugar/spice for 2 days. Rinsed and dried then into sous vide embalmed in mostly olive oil but some duck fat. 190 degrees for 4 hours moveed it up to 195 for last hour till the legs start to soften. Into the fridge overnight. The bags go back into the freezer to use as I please. Most the time I just pull out a few and eat them whole.

  8. saw that too Runs smooth as honey
  9. Wish I would have the oppurtunity to use a rod and reel like that it wouldk be gone in a second
  10. Wind can be tough but no wind brings out the gnats. The second week was better if mild to moderate wind.
  11. Annual trip to SD Glacial Lakes region. Endded up fishing 17days. Stayed in the town of eden for 3 nights because you can only camp at roy Lake for 2 weekd max. first day we went to Big Stone Lake which is right on the MN/SD line. Tournament there the week before had 18 boats, 11 weighed in over 20#. Unfortunately for us the wind was blowing straight up the lake at 25+ so we were limited and didn't do too well. This year was different from other years. Typically we would be wearing outer gear for warm and wind protection, this year other than a few days it was hot. The wind still blew, the whole first week we had 20+ winds every day. Luckily the lakes aren't that bigg and yo can hide from it some. Still had times when the trolling motor was comeing out of the water. Thank god for spotlock.Started the nxt day at Cattail, 2nd fish was a 5 1/2# smallie, my biggest bass for the trip. The lake use to yield only big smallmouth typically 4# or better. It's getting pressured and we're catching smaller ones no but still some big ones.Early on the inlet to the lake was attracting the poke since the warmer inflow wsa bringing the bait fish in. Later on the whole lake warmer up. This year the ice came off the lake about a week later than usual. Hot weather set in and in about 2 1/2 weeks later the water was just below 60. When we left 2 weeks later is was 75. I'm sure it confused the fish as much as it did us. The small mouth still came up on the rocks but the LM were tougher to find on most lakes. My brother and I were there the whole time and we had friends of his come up for several days. 2 of my friends from MO came up for the second week.We fished 10 different lakes.. Each one favors different fish, a couple are mainly SM others for LM Several are best for walleye. Pike are found in most but not all of them. one spot of particular interest is what the call the grade. It is where they had to raaise up the hiway on a grade because of the rising water. the lake to the east is surrounded by private lane except where it hits the grade. There is a evening bite for wallaye there some better than others. My brother was the first to go there about 5 years ago. He came back with 1 walleye, a nice one about 22". He said he caught 22 but couls only bring 1 back becuse you are only allowed 1 over 20"This year we hit it twice with 4 or 5 guys caught 60 walleye including two 7# that were released. we don't get the size we use to but most are 16-19". Aside from fishing I love watching the waterfowl. Lots of ducks in their peak spring plummage flying ing pairs or at time a couple rakes chasing a hen. constant goose honking from the shores where they were nesting. The area is rolling hills of green pastures or cropland with small lakes everywhere that formed over farmland back in the 80's. Club Eden is where we head at night if were not doing a fish fry at camp. $4.75 for a 22oz IPA, play Shake A Day and you might win a free one. After 17 days of fishing we were a bit beat up but we broke camp. Boots the camp host came by and said goodbye, said we'll see you next year.
  12. Here's my long distance entry from SD 5 1/2#
  13. what a catch, you released the bass but what about the bluegill?
  14. Looks like it came out of a showroom not a barn🤩
  15. I've seen beds as deep as 18 ft in past. I''ve also caught smallmouth in 10 ft that I know were on bed but I couldn't see them. these 2 days the only fish we caught were 4-6 feet , never caught anything 8 feet or deeper and we tried.
  16. Didn't take many pictures
  17. Went ouut of Indian Point and fished lower lake up to schooner creek for 2 days. Lots of wind Tuesday, couldn't hide from it but still fishable. Caught most everything on Ned if you could keep it out of the algae. we had about 40 total but they didn't come easy. Today hardly a whiff of wind, same story on the fish but we only had 8 each. Question here, the water temp is runnin right at 60. The cooler nights bring it done each morning to maybe 58. Water viz is about 12 ft but were not seeing nests or bank cruisers. The fish we do catch are shallow ,4-6 ft but not on a bed. You have to make a long cast to catch them. The fish we catch are not fat but don't look like they have been on beds either. So is the spawn over and the beds gone or is it yet to come?
  18. Glacial lakes region. Roy Lake state park, this is our 11th year going there.
  19. I'll be in South Dakota , I'll post anything of size.😀
  20. Good fishing Alex. Can't say I ever do any good in the rain.I usually head for an open boat dock and wait it out. temp must not have been too bad with you both in sandals.
  21. Came back on friday after 2 good days earlier in the week. Got to KC smae time as before the ramp parking was full and there were boats running up and down the lake. Same weather as the days before minus a good wind. shouldn't complain too much ,caugth some good fish as before but onlly a third of what we had. Boats everywhere, ant spot I wanted when we arrived was full. Guess you count friday as the weekend
  22. The weather guys had rain forecasted for both of those days up till the weekend. Today showed rain but it's beautiful going ona bike ride today. i'll probably be down Friday hope the pre fishers won't be too thick.
  23. still sitting right around 60 degrees The temp didn't rise much either day
  24. Fished the last 2 days out of KC.Forcaast earlier was questionable but weather ended up great, had some wind and clouds but a lot of sunshine too. Fish are definitely up on the banks but still not seeing fish on beds. Most fish came out of about 6 fow. Ned and flukes were about all we threw. Some really nice size to the smallmouth more than half were keepers. We had a dozen or so each day in the 17-19" range. Bite was better in the afternoon my be due to more wind. steeper rock banks did better than gravel .
