They are starting out of Mobridge this time vs Pierre in 2018. That kinda like fishing out of Big M vs Big Cedar. They may run aways though.

A friend and I pulled my boat up to Oahe reservior last week and fished around gettysburg where I had been 2 summers ago. My brother who lives in SD joined us.The water level is down considerably, about 15 ft from when I was there last. That put most of the rock structure we had fished before right on the shore. typically the fish this time of year sit out on the ends of points. didn't seem to be the case this year. Looked alot with elctronics and fished them but no luck on the offshore bite. Could catch smaller one near widswept banks. Our first evening out we had light winds early on.. All a sudden thunderheads strarted popping up and the wind came up. Thought we would dodge them then a few drops started to fall, followed by a minute or two of hail. we tried for 2 1/2 days on Oahe with probably fewer that 5 good fish. Luckily anything over a puond and you were in for a good fight. Left 2 days early and headed south to Lake sharpe the next empoundment down the Missouri. Tried the same approach there with only slightly better results. about to give it up midafternoon. headed back to the ramp when my brother spotted a pea gravel bank with some big rock along it. Pulled ito about 5 foot of water and we could see SM swimming everywhere. fished 2 areas there for 3 hours. Caught 30-40 fish each ,mostly fish around a pound . A few would go 2. Left planning to return the next day. woke up to a steady rain with most of the day looking the same. Packed it up and headed home. Can't upload pictures for unknown reason will try later.

Proposed lead fishing tackle restriction
curtisce replied to BilletHead's topic in Conservation Issues
As much wild stuff you that you eat you're going to sprout fur or feathers one day😆 -
May not be far enough north for some of you but I'm headed to Lake Oahe this week. Tournament results from this weekend validate my reason

I've fished there several times. Done it with a guide, I recommend Chris Johnson, and done it on my own. don't need a livescope, you need a map. Any shallower water10-20 ft near deep wqter is where it's happening.

We're off in France, our middle son who lives in Germany married last week to a French girl so the wedding is in France. Now we're traveling about. Been to Bordeaux and sampled the wines. Today we arrive in Sarlat du Caneda , or as I would call it duck heaven Foie gras , confit, cassoulet, you name it they got it. might think a salad as a main dish is girly food but not when it has foie gras ,dried duck breast, and duck gizzards. Mushrooms too

10 year anniversery trip to Roy Lake
curtisce replied to curtisce's topic in U.S.A. - North & East Regions
Definitely a big if. If you were to go there is early May I would bet you the weather would keep you off the water 3or4 days of the week. By late May when we were there we had one day it blew 30+ for 24 hours. That said it is a great place for hunting and fishing. I didn't mention but part of the fun of this place is seeing all the waterfowl, they are in their spring blumage. It's hilarious watching 2 greenheads chasing a hen all over the sky. -
10 year anniversery trip to Roy Lake
curtisce replied to curtisce's topic in U.S.A. - North & East Regions
This palce had tarps over parts of the roof. was in extreme disrepair but had a for sale sign up. The other place we found in town were some old mobile homes. The guy wanted $65 / person for the night. You would have had to pay me to stay there.Sometimes your own tent ain't that bad -
What started as a Memoerial weekend trip in 2013 has morphed into a 2 week marathon. we still camp at Roy Lake state Park.We literall have the 40 space campground to ourselves until about Thursday before the weekend. It fills with campers and boats then quickly emptys on Sunday afternoon. We are there with our tents, we hav e added a fridge along the way and this year a deep fryer. My brother and I are there the whole time and some of his friends join us through the trip. Our first trip we fished only on roy. We now fish about 10 diffrerent lakes which are within a half hour . We started our trip on a lake along the way up form my brothers house in Salem SD. we did good on it for wllayes before. This year the wind overpowered us. We decided to head to the small town get a room and wait till evening. The "motel" had an office but no one was there. There was a nuber to call but no answer. by the looks of the exterior it would have rivaled @BilletHead fish camp in south Texas. We headed to Roy and set up camp then did some evening bass fishing. these glacial lakes fill if local precipitation. This year SD has been dry except for this region which helps the LM fishing. Each lake has different makeup of fish. Some are better SM others LM or walleye. They all seem to have lots of small pike and big ones too. Our first trip to the best SM lake yielded two 5# smallies and several in the 2.5- 3.5# class though numbers weren't as good as prior years. We returned there the following Saturday. Usually there will be 3 to 5 rigs at the put in. This year we arrived to find 20+ rigs. Seems a local tourney was going on. The SM are on rocks during the spawn and easy to find if you know the lake so our chances were limited since we arrived 2 hours after the tourney started. The top 2 boats both had 25+ bags of 5 SM so that tells you what kind of fish are in this lake. We had some intense 30+ mph winds mostly at night. My tent was staked and the top was secured to the tree or it would not have survived. we would curse the winds one day and the next it would be dead still. When these lakes filled back in the 80's they covered a lot of private land and public roads. Some of the roads got built up with rock creating a road grade. You can fish off the grades on these lakes and one has an abundant walleye population so after dineer and a few drinks we would hit the grade for the evening. Usually in less than 2 hours we could get our 4 walleyes each and a few trophies. we had 3 over 27" this year, the largest 29". frequent fish frys kept our posseesion limits legal. The LM this year were very strong in numbers and average size.No monsters landed but did have a few 5+ # on the line. Really pretty geen fish the were thick and hard fighting. The pike are plentiful but they were really hard on my terminal tackle. You would feel a tic on the line and that it, GONE.Flukes, ned rigs, swimbait ,and spinnerbaits.I think the smaller ones did it more the the larger ones. Fished our last morning on Roy did well on the rocks for smallies, then the wind got abit stronger. We headed back into the bays and found some nice LM. Went in about noon and packed up camp and headed home. nice way to end it

Where are you located? from the loos of the river and with stripers and wild tout looks like maybe south central to east MO. Other members can teach you how to blur your backgrounds for future pictures🤣

Not Little Sac but some information. Fished Monday out of greenfield starting aaround noon. Went down lake throwing SB and CB , water was stained. Caught a few bass and 2 nice whites. Went up Turnback around 3PM. ran my 19ft bass boat up to the first ripple just above where you turn form heading west to heading south. Water had a green color probably 3 ft viz. Tried clouser on fly rod mostly found the bottom or debris. anything hittng the bottom got stuck. threw a small jerk bait caught a white first cast but that was it on that. worked that east west strech with minimal luck. Below the first turn started getting bit and saw fish on LS. Silver Flicker Shad worked best. Not hot and heavy action but consistetn. Lots of short strikes. Ended with 5 keepers form river 2 down lake. 5of 7 were females not huge but keeper size, threw a few small ones back. WT 56

OK, before someone says it, I just read anarticle that said that wind knots are user error. That being said I've used Nanofil for the last couple years and though knots do occur it is much less frequent.

Anyone have experience with Sufix 832? It looked good, thin durable. My first experience with it on a Pflueger President was not good It would form small looped knots often while casting. I could usually get them undone but had to cut the Line 3 times before I gave up on it. Twice I spoiled the line out behind the boat and respooled it.

we were on Beaver creek tuesday. Found the whites they just won't bite. Thanks for the report.

Cold weather so time to cook. Started last Sunday putting duck into brine with pickling spice. After 4 days air dried for abit then put in rub and smoked for 3 hours. During the time I also made some duck gumbo to get our KU final 4 party in a NOLA atmosphere .

Roger's in Liberty is great also. Oreder something and you'll have it the next day most of the time. Great for waterfowl and shotgun ammo.

I saw him in his truck driving the other day. Had his company logo on the back window with a rather aged OA sticker. I guess he's been around for awhile. Good to know if a big hybrid ever overpowers me -
Missed your report till now, Happy Birthday to Pat. I did celebrate with corn beef and cabbage and maybe a wee dram of irish whiskey
