  1. The Accent B-2 buzzer is a killer. Usually in half once. You won’t catch a pile of dink’s but the ones you do catch are usually nice. Like 1/4 oz single buzzers, and the single triple blade buzzers too. Toss a walking plug in open water allot more though. Buzzers are for casting through above water tree tops, above water veg, and over weed mats. Walking a frog works well too. Chatterbaits are decent in thin weeds. Johnson Silver Minnow is probably better because fish don’t see them often anymore.
  2. Congrats! Looks like a nice boat. Think your dog will do just fine. Our 45lb Aussie is right at home on the back deck of our Coosa...She sits on an old seat cushion through floatie.
  3. If the bait has a split ring tie to that. No split, tie on with a non-slip mono loop (Rapala Knot). If you remove a factory ring...you can affect the way a suspending lure runs. Usually use jerkbaits all year for trout. They work all year for bass to...but I would rather fish topwater...Will use a jerk if they are swatting a fluke and not getting hooked.
  4. That’s a really nice smallie congrats!
  5. The trash problem has gotten allot better in the western world, it it is horrible in India & Asia. Those folks just don’t care.
  6. A swimming pool works the best if you want to tune them. Research them on Taccle warehouse and YouTube.
  7. You know there are fish there, burn your own gas and scout it yourself. That is most of fun anyway.
  8. That’s a very old article. Remembers reading it 20 yrs ago. Thanks for finding it.
  9. Think you do well in CO. Rainbows love Kastmaster spoons and Ned rigs if legal there. Will eat a small suspending jerk bait better than a rapala. Have fun!
  10. Let’s go Daryk. Can’t say I know any about the lower Meramec but don’t mind paying my dues to learn. No jet, but got plenty of boats.
  11. Dubbing takes practice. Looks like your in KC. Too bad. T Hargrove in STL does fly tying several times a week. $10 a class, materials and hooks provided. Usually have 12-20 tying. Call Craig at the shop, he runs that show. Scuds & Sows are easy. Fur bugs work as well or better than fancy ties and take less than a minute to tie if your hooks are weighted and ready to go.
  12. Those look really nice! In Webster, have boats and a tow vehicle. Would love to chase some hybrids on the lower Meramec!
  13. Small stream Coaster brookies are fun. The most brutal canoe trip of of my life was a brook trout float in the UP. Hemingway’s Water. Scouted the Boise Brule on vacation this summer. Want to go back and float that.
  14. I like to cast at anything that swims in a river, or a salt water estuary. Not that interested in lake or offshore fishing. Would do a Halibut trip again, even though I did not enjoy the fishing. You will probably get at least 30lbs of tasty fillets.
  15. Rainbows show an affinity for colors in the pale pink to orange range IMO.
  16. Ned works for trout. Half a zinker on 1/8 or 1/16oz will catch a pile of fill in the blank. My girls (9&11) prefer the green pumpkin for trout. Both have caught a bunch of those ciggy butt eaters on Neds over the last 5-6 years.
  17. Really not a fan of the boiling to mason stretch, or that outfitter if still in business. Disaster family trip there a couple years ago. We Had 3 Couples and 7 kids under 10 in or party and staying in the CG. The river came up 3-4’ overnight and we cancelled. Booked it day before and the ”Chief Moron” had the nerve to tell us we had to pay for the shuttle and the two boats we reserved if we floated or did not. We did not pay for that. Doubt that we would have got the boats wet before noon if we had reserved a 9am departure.
  18. No...They put their floaters in upstream. Not sure If they are still in business, They were incredibly disorganized on our last visit 2 yrs ago. .

    What's Cooking?

All looks great! Too busy to cook 6 days a week, so eating whatever is available, and out often. Most is indifferent food, decent, edible. Tonight’s dinner was a stand out.. You need to go to Mai Lee in STL. Had the beef seviche #90, wife had #89 savory beef. Both were flat out fantastic! You might not know what you are gonna get but the flavors always exceed our expectations.
  21. Awesome story and congrats to Paul Crews!
  22. Built like a gut eater. Congrats to the angler!
  23. Ha, I really don’t need another anchor. Hardly ever use one, but that looks better than what I have and would take up less space in the boat. Make me one Pete, will come and get it.
