    What's Cooking?

Hard to describe, greasy, crunchy porcine goodness.

    What's Cooking?

Pappy's, Sugarfire, Bogarts, are favorites but ther are twenty other established, and up & comers in the Lou. The standard is pretty high here. I like Smokie O's if in the mood for Snoots. Can't find those just anywhere.

    What's Cooking?

Texas Q is pretty good, more chile flavors, more savory than hot. Made some killer vinegar based slaw for this evening. Used Pappy's slaw dressing from the St Louis Magazine Chef's Recipes cookbook. Worth buying. Pappy's slaw. Head of cabbage & one Sweet Onion sliced fine. Dressing-1C Sugar, 1t salt, 2/3C oil, 1t dry mustard,1t celery seed, 1C cider vinegar. Combine, heat to dissolve sugar, dress then chill.
  6. Not a fan of Frankenfish...but who cares if one takes the record. If you have separate categories for Frankenfish, stocked fish, and wild fish...somebody is gonna try for that record and it creates allot of expense & nonsense. Better to have one state record, but MDC should jump on this...They could employ 3-4 more biologists.
  7. I have a guy who mows my lawn, with his own mower and gas, charges $45...Takes him 10 minutes. Would take me 45 minutes, then an allergy coma for 3 hrs or so...Money well spent. A for profit, with volunteer labor is BS.
  8. If retired it could be a sweet gig, not a gig for a working man though. They should pay for the truck, pay you, house, feed, and water you well if you are expected to drive a Miss Daisy and keep score.

    What's Cooking?

You can order on their website https://oldviennallc.com/shop/ They have T's, Shower Curtains, Seasonings ETC...
  10. Yep cheaters will cheat, looks like a 14" fish with an extra tail. Very obvious.
  11. Hope you get the record again Laker! Think the Rip Collins fish was a trip44". Throw a few in the Current & NFOW while they are at it
  12. All for it! Hope it is successful and that local tourneys adopt something similar. Figure that some will worry about cheating but why risk your reputation to cheat and win a bass tournament? Not much money in the big picture if you to win, even for KVD.
  13. The blue bellies are better looking. Probably why some bright blue green marabou is a great color to add to your jig or bugger at times. Red is a good add when certain minnows spawn.
  14. There are two different species in Johns photos. The blue green colors are spawning male Ozark Sculpin. The ones from the Current are Banded Sculpin. Your paint looks great!
  15. In another direction, not a fan of fish mounts or replicas. What would be cooler than a water color, pen & ink of your fish to scale? Underwater type pic maybe. Frame it with a picture of your catch, the lure & litte blurb with the details. It will look better than a fish on the wall. Will probably cost more if done right though.
  16. Deer is the only they seem to enforce. Why is the question. They are everywhere. See urban deer all the time, turkey too. Could use a few less in my neighborhood. Thicker west of 270 in the STL area.
  17. I don't care. Not one little bit.
  18. They are powerful...Had a nice wiper tow my kayak for a bit on a lake in KS last weekend, Figure a big striper could take you for a sleigh ride!

    POTUS

I like the Benton murals at the Capitol. Benton's painting of Cave Spring on the Current R. is one of my favorites. River views from some of the blue carpet offices are pretty spectacular....average legislator or senate office is a hovel though.
  20. The Eleven Point should be on your list if you have not done it. It flows a little faster, and it has excellent trout fishing, chain pickeral, & smallmouth.
  21. Beautiful Fish! Good for you!

    Beef tongue

I do like calves liver. Lorenzo's on the hill does a great one. Do like hearts, deer heart, beef heart, and if you like dissonance & experimental music you might like some Captain Beefheart.
  23. Cedargrove to Round Spring is the most popular float stretch. Carr's at Round Spring might do. Upper River down to Cedar call Jadwin canoe. Think Two Rivers will drop you at Round Spring for a float back to their place at the confluence with the Jacks Fork. Lots of gravel bars to camp on.
  24. I prefer to fish only one fly well, but will fish 2 until I get dialed in. A crackleback or griffiths gnat and a small dropper works really well on low water Taney. Figure most blind nymph caught fish are actually flossed. Always prefer to see the fish move and eat. Sometimes you can’t.
  25. Gasconade as well. There is a new CG about 20 miles above Riddle Bridge. Ruby’s Landing is the name. There to Boiling Springs should be about 35 miles. Big Piney from east gate to the gasconade would work too.
