  1. Bad times happen, Thrive, survive, or die. Pick one.
  2. JD, I get ya. This was an all DIY family float. Never rented a boat or paid for a shuttle. Just adapted to what we fell into. Made it an adventure, but not a drag a thon. I don’t think I’d want to float the JF below Eminence. I checked out two access points down there and both smelled like horse shart. Lots of Horse facilities down that way.
  3. We were hoping for the Jacks, but the Current was fun. You can see our two daughters standing on their kayaks in the background on one of those photos. They have no desire to fish, they just want to paddle and swim. We would fish a bit, then hit the trolling motor to catch up.
  4. We booked a last minute trip to Eminence this week. We got a nice full hookup RV site at Circle B, and it looks like the run a good CG. We were hoping for a Jacks Fork float, So I did a solo recon from Alley Spring down to camp in Eminence on Monday. Not enough water,, but I caught a bunch of 8-10” fish and a few decent ones in the 14-16” range. We decided to float Two Rivers to Powdemill on Tuesday. Great float, but we got caught in rain. Wednesday was a rain out, but we visited Alley Mill, ate out, toured the junk stores and visited Rocky Falls. On Thursday we opted for Round Spring down to Jerktail. Great float and hardly anyone out (3 jet bats and. 1 other family in two canoes and kayak on a 13 mile float). Fishing was decent on the Current, , but we skipped ALLOT of good water to chase down our daughters zipping downriver in their kayaks. Packed it up this morning, followed by lunch at the Dairy Shack before the drive home. Good times!
  5. We were at Two Rivers recently, there is a nice 2 lane ramp and parking, pulled out at Powdermill, access there has some issues worth a shallow water crossing and some loose gravel. Walk in and see before you rush in.
  6. It will take you 15 minutes to check them all out when you get there. Cart’s usually does our shuttle when we float out of Round Spring, so we park on the upper.
  7. Haven’t had this one out in awhile. New tires, and some bearing grease….watch out! Great duck boat too.
  8. The world will always be chaotic and you cannot control it. All you can do is be kind to others. I try to do that but I’ve failed at it many times. Just do your best.
  9. There are no secret spots, but just don't spot burn online. If you feel comfy giving some details, DM that stuff, text, or call.
  10. You could run downriver almost anywhere, and maybe run back up a few slow holes. I dont think you would have enough speed to make much upstream progress on the Current. You may have enough water below Welch but I'd probably just run it down river. That is what I do with my 17' paddle jon and a trolling motor. 20 miles downriver is easy in a day, 3-5 miles up river is slow going. I could probably pole or paddle faster.
  11. Looks like fun! Good for you!
  12. Some just want a political circle jerk 24/7/365. It is boorish and sad.
  13. The NFoW still has some trout, and it’s always been tough fishin in comparrisdon to other rivers. There are some big striped bass in that river year round..
  14. Good for you! The Decorah area is a ton of fun!
  15. If you can wait till it freezes, they will be dead then. Just cut it down.

    What's Cooking?

No cooking today. Went to see my daughter’s youth theater show at Harris Stowe and stopped by Rockwell Brewing with some others to fuel up the kids and talk with other theater parents during the break between the afternoon and evening performance. It’s on the edge of the Grove gay bar stretch of Vandeventer. That area was a slum, but it has really risen in the last ten years. Good beers and great burgers. I’ll be back. It was also naked bike ride day. It looks like they had a good turnout. Naked folks riding around all over the place in spite of a light drizzle.
  17. Darn it, we will be cutting pin oak and brushing duck blinds that weekend. Have fun!
  18. The locals run up and down Mary Decker in jet boats all the time. It's an easy shot to the right if going downstream, but it could be nasty if there were some sweepers in it. If it is clogged up, walk it through the shallow side on the left. Your gonna want to fish/camp/eat lunch there anyway. We climbed to the top of that bluff across the river from Mary in the winter years ago and an Eagle greated us. Good times!
  19. I’ve never floated that, but I know central and SE MO pretty well. I own lots of float craft and I can cook for 20 easy on a 🔥.
  20. They can start in my back yard. We have ALLOT of barred owls. Sometimes they get loud enough to wake us up at night.
  21. OnX Hunt is my go to map these days. It’s great for finding locations in the dark.
  22. Why would you want to eat a common carp? They are a PIA to clean and only good fried if you bother with it. Stick a few in your garden, and you migh get something decent to eat.
  23. We still float with Kip, Slosh, Todd and the others. WFT! Dunno, what Kip did with his cedar boats, he made 2. He’s been floating an old Disco 169 last couple years. All are doing very well.
  24. That is fantastic. Cant wait to see it on the water!
  25. If you have not experienced the Hex Hatch in the Northland, you must go! They usually get thick about NOW (Weekend after Father's Day). I chased it up MI for a few years and we would float and fish at night. It is a hit or miss thing, but it can be incredible. A sporadic hatch, or a spinner fall is usually better than one were emergers carpet the water.
